Hey guys. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an Eventuri intake for my G82. I'm pretty handy but am a little nervous about the idea of doing the install myself -- I've heard it can be an enormous pain in the ass with suburban dad tools/skills.

Anyone have thoughts on a good shop in the Denver/Boulder area that would do the install well and at a reasonable price?

If you think I'm being dumb and should do it myself, you can tell me that too.

Hey man!

I would talk with Limegrntaln about the install. He did his by himself and I know he had one area in particular where he was hating life trying to take care of.

There are a couple places that have received some decent reviews on getting intakes/exhaust, HAS kits, etc. done on the G8X. I can't speak personally to them, but they will be on my short list to call based on the feedback I've heard.

I did mine with just the instructions from eventuri. They are pretty thorough. As long as you have access to a few extensions and universal joints for the turbo inlet replacement you’ll be fine. And protect the carbon with a towel when installing the center piece. Here is a good DIY to follow as well. Thanks to the folks at NRP!

Thanks guys. I'll give a self-install some more thought. I had seen Limegrntaln 's post about how hard his install was and I think he has way more technical skill than I do, so I've been pretty spooked.

It can be done if you know what you're doing. I have done with a bit of effort. Not really hard apart from the left turbo inlet where you need some effort and special knuckle / flexible tool to take the bolt out.

A tip for a perfect job : Use sewing thread / or thin fishing line to secure those bolts, nuts, screws etc.. so if they drop down into the engine somewhere, you can always retrieve them back easily.

That also applies to the hand tools too.

I did the self install... it was a super pain in the A but I felt accomplished after doing it.

I paid special attention to the bolts on the turbo inlets and got myself a long reach magnet. I unscrewed the last bit of the bolts by hand.

This. I spent extra time trying various length extensions, flex extensions, 1/4" u joints, micro ratchets, telescoping magnet, etc. The skill is really in having the experience to feel out the situation and select the combination of tools/methods that works best. I don't recall being frustrated but it did require patience, creativity, and tool options of which I switched up numerous times. Thinking back, I wish I would have documented the process.
