Thank you ! I actually just posted a full blog post about the whole experience. Hopefully that helps out the ones who are contemplating about the PDC Delivery.

Great job with this video! I went out to the new owner experience after getting my x3 m40i, and driven the g80/82 at the Indy track day twice and it's made me incredibly antsy as I sit on the allocation waitlist. Can't wait to be back at the PC doing delivery on my m3 in..hopefully within a year!

This may not be the ideal thread for ongoing PCD discussions, but is anyone else scheduled for an 8/2 pickup? I'll be there!

Congrats. Looks like its really close.

Also it would be great if we can keep any PCD discussions in this thread which might help everyone in the future.

This all seems like fun but I can’t bear anymore delays now that I’ve finally got a car in production. How long does PCD add to delivery times in average? Would the dealer get it delivered to you weeks or a month faster if they were based in the southeast? If so, what is the latest you can back out of PCD?

PCD typically adds four weeks to the timeline and that's based on how busy their calendar is. You can cancel PCD until the vechile is processed by VPC and before it's shipped to PCD.

I'd say four weeks is probably on the high end of the delay (assuming you also live in the Southeast). My car arrived at VPC ~July 8, and it took a few days for processing. Once done, I heard from the PC on July 12, and the earliest they could schedule delivery was August 1, nearly three weeks out. If the car was going to a nearby dealer instead, it would likely take another 3-4 days for trucking, processing, and prep. So, altogether, closer to a two-week additional wait.

Of course, I live in Maryland, and since Baltimore was the first stop for my ship, I would have gotten the car earlier. But I can live with that... This will be my third time doing PCD, which should tell you what I think about its value.

Anyone know if there is anyway to do this, while having your car go straight to dealer? I do not really see the point or need for the car to be there, and don't really want to deal with driving the car back (would not mind the driving back part, if it was not for the need to figure out PPF in SC) or transporting, so curious if its possible to have car go straight to dealer and then just go to the PCD? Similar to what was mentioned about folks in California being able to have car go straight to dealer. I am assuming not (assuming there is some form of benefit to them to have us pick up from SC compared to sending to dealer.

You cannot attend the program without taking delivery in PC and this very similar with every other manufacturer.

Thanks figured that was the case, not in the cards for me this time around, but maybe next time!

G80DGM3CX No, but you can take traditional delivery, then schedule some driving school, and make plans to tour the factory and Zentrum. That would effectively give you the PC experience less the delivery itself.

But I think PDC is a great program. Next week will be my third time doing it, and I certainly wouldn't let PPF concerns sway me away. (I'll be applying TrakkTape temporarily for the drive home )

I also know that several members have used the local PPF installer, Extreme Colors Auto Spa "the Official BMW Performance Center Paint Protector since 2013" (their words not mine ). They're going to wrap the front cap on mine after I take delivery on Aug 2. So far they've been easy to work with, I'll report back with my experience.

do you put the trakktape on yourself or have it done by someone there?

Myself. It doesn't need to be perfect, just to cover the most vulnerable areas for the drive home.
