I must know over 50 owners personally. There were well over 80 G8Xs at Kies a few weeks ago, and it may become Ms best-selling car ever.

Everyone is either used to it or loves it now that they own it, so I’m just not sure why random E60 or F owners on here think they know the community.

I love the AT gloss black CSL grill. Fit well and looks great, especially with the proper emblem indent for a base badge.

That's because renders are not representative of real life. Look at the details long enough and you'll realize the grill doesn't align with anything on the bumper; it looks good in 2D but actually making it fit using the hard mounting points of the chassis is not feasible.

If it could be done, the companies that spent all that time "trying to reinvent the wheel" would have come out with it, knowing it would be a home run for a bunch of potential buyers.

Well that may be true for you, it’s not as great as it might have been. It definitely is a shock and awe design, that many, including myself never warmed up to.

That’s the very reason this thread exists.

I’d personally rock the CSL Grill.

The G8X M3 / M4 styling discussion has already been done... extensively. While the front fascia looks are still a bit polarizing, the overall consensus has become overwhelmingly positive; aided in large part by the many aftermarket grille options now available. At IND, we wanted to offer a comprehensive look and comparison of all the options so customers can make an informed decision on the direction that best suits their individual styling goals. Unlike the many houses of Westeros battling for the Iron Throne, hopefully we can help make your choice of front grille just a bit easier.

FIRST OF THEIR NAME: Vorsteiner Aero Front Grilles

Vorsteiner was the first company to offer an aftermarket grille solution that was based on BMW's own M4 GT3 front grille. They offer both a carbon as well as a gloss black variant; the only difference being that the carbon version uses 2-piece construction while the gloss black unit is a single piece like BMW's CSL grille. The GT3 style grille keeps things simple by fitting models both with and without active cruise control.

The one-piece grille is easier to install utilizing the OEM tabs while the 2-piece will likely give you a bit of extra leeway to make sure each side fits as well as possible. Both versions include an [...]
You are a scholar and a gentleman for taking your time outlining the many faces of the G8x.

I’d rock the CSL Grill, given the choice.
When the F8X came out, it had chrome around its grilles. Good luck finding a single F8X with one now. Plus there are just as many variations for that car.

I’m glad many options exist - so no two look alike.

Well said.

At this point, it's just boring talk. Literally only saying something because you want to be heard. Look, we get it, you don't like the way it looks. That doesn't mean 1. you need to say anything and 2. anyone cares to hear your opinion.

I've learned that it's much better just to move on and not say anything. Looks are subjective. There are people on here who do "builds" that I think are absolutely hideous. But you know what, they like it and it's for them not me. So I don't say anything, positive or negative. Why intentionally bring more negativity to the party except to call attention to yourself? Just move on.

As for the front end, I'm still not the hugest fan, but it's grown on me. Looks way better in person and it wasn't enough for me to not order the car. Let's put it this way..I liked the looks of the F80 much better but never ordered one because the G80 is a MUCH better car. So while I think the looks are more fussy than I would like, it still looks mean as hell and the actual driving performance more than makes up for it.

To those of you who got banned, as a moderator on another highly trafficked forum, I'd say it's probably not what you said but how you said it. You're entitled to your opinion. On a forum, repeatedly spamming the forum with negative comments and personally going after people who don't share that opinion as "sheep" or "weak" for not admitting something is what gets you banned.

That looks great. I’ve been debating on this setup for my SSG M3cx. Was install a PIA?

CSL grille from AutoTecknic looks the best but I'm obviously biased.

if you want a csl style grille and don't want to deal with the awkward badge issue, there is a chinese ABS replica which has perfect oem fitment and no indentation, i used my oem mounting plate and emblem and haven't seen a better solution IMO.

I can now get the bumper on and off in about an hour lol I did the grill first last fall then the CF ducts this spring. With the CF ducts, though, I buttoned everything up but got a park sensor warning so I took it all apart to realize I didn't plug a connector in fully.

Overall, the install is not hard just a bit tedious. I was able to do it on the ground with the wheels rotated side to side to give me enough clearance for the two vertical bolts holding the bumper on near the fenders. Those are the biggest PIA out of the entire process. If you take the wheels off and remove more of the fender liner those bolts become much easier to remove.

Both Kies and RW Carbon have good install videos on Youtube which is what I used for guidance.

I wish someone would make an alternate bumper with classic kidneys for this car. There was a lot of talk from companies out there how they were going to design a bumper to get ride of the pig snout when the car was still in camo. Looks like no one ever came through.

Check out @1sickg80 on Instagram. He has a unique grille (as far as I know) that's pretty close to what you're describing.

The E9x/F8x owners aren’t saying they know the community, just that there isn’t positive consensus on this design like IND is saying. I don’t personally know 50 G8x owners but I’ve spoken to at least that many and there is hardly a unanimous love for this design. Things I hear from the owners - “It looks better in darker colors”, “I don’t really like the grille but I’ve gotten use to it”, “You have to get it in manual”, “I wish the hood was actually vented”, and on it goes.

If IND doesn’t want a discussion like this to get started then they shouldn’t throw fuel on the fire by saying there is positive consensus on a questionable design. IND knows there are strong opinions about this and should know better.
