Opinion on Aftermarket Grills

Could I please get an opinion on which grill to get for my G80 M3 with ACC sensor?

I purchased a PG grill and had the below issues.
1. Parking Sensors aligning
2. Excessive glue used for parking sensor mounts
3. Grill clips not holding the grill in place all around
4. Being told that the foam on the bumper has to be trimmed

Did you experience the same issues

That pg grill looks like junk, why is one side shorter than the other?

Ahh you noticed. I was told that the bumper foam would have to be cut.

It drove me nuts after taking off the entire bumper and breaking a clip taking off the original grill.

I really really wanted it to wok.

I don’t think any of them look better than a stock grill on a dark colour like IB.

That PG grill looks like trash

I had all of the same issues with the PG grill that you described except I didn't have to trim the bumper foam. It would have fit better if I trimmed (was very tight on the passenger side), but I was able to squeeze everything together without trimming.

My parking sensors don't look anywhere nearly as bad as what you pictured. They're pretty flush on the bottom but protrude about 1mm on the top. I did have to trim a lot of the excess glue to fit them. The foam applies enough pressure behind the grill when mounted on the car that the loose retention clips aren't really an issue, but there were gaps I covered from behind the bumper with black gorilla tape to prevent light from shining through where it shouldn't.

Light shining through the sides drove me nuts considering the price of the grills.
I was going to use a dremel and cut the carbon grill on the inside to avoid cutting the foam but I couldn't deal with the sensors being misaligned. I was even willing to remove the O-Ring but asthetically it looked so bad.

The EZ Carbon grill caught my eye but I received the same feedback from them about how it's so hard to get the sensor mounts right.

I decide to go with the Kies CS grill. I've heard only great feedback about how it's made just right, sensor mounts and all.

Good luck with the Kies. I have no doubts it'll fit well and if you run into an issue they'll make it right.

Project Gamma advertises on their website that they do not offer refunds, exchanges or credit for installed products, which is a shame if you install and it simply doesn't look or fit right. That's the only reason I decided to go through the trouble of trying to make it look somewhat acceptable. I was already at the point of no return.

I expected better for the price with the precise measurement and modern manufacturing techniques at our disposal. Post up pics of the Kies after you get it installed!

I agree. Precise measurements are important when making these grills. I was still going to keep it and just work with it but the parking sensors sent me over the edge. I could not do this to my brand new 2 month old M3.

I'll post pics of Kies as soon as it arrive and I pop it on.

I don’t know what the hell happened to the grilles you guys got. Mine is nothing like anything that’s being described. I don’t have that glue on the back or anything.

I was trying to figure out what you guys were talking about. I guess they’re not all the same. I ordered mine early on, with the pre order, for $899. And then I added the MPact discount they had for like another 15% off. I think it was like $765 shipped.

After pre order, they immediately went up to like $1,399. That’s shit that you guys ended up with questionable quality. I wonder if they changed manufacturing facilities to try to save cost?

How was your quality? Would you have any close up pictures of the parking sensors?

I simply love the grill and they offered to try another but the risk wasn't worth it. I really really wish the grill would have fit.

I was also told that everything is manufacture on Houston.

Maybe some got unlucky.

Not great pics. Garage is dark, so, this is with automatic night mode correction. But keep in mind, it’s also PPFd. So, anything around the sensors on the carbon, is probably PPF cutouts.

I have CSL grill but after a while I didn't like it as much so I ordered the Vorsteiner gloss black grill from IND and will have it on soon.

Really weird. They didn’t upload, and it took 3 more attempts in the mobile app. But they’re there, now.
