I'm I the only one who thinks the 50th anniversary emblem are hideous? Id never put those on my car.

I'm not a big fan of the 50th Jahre roundels either, but figure since they're more rare than the standard emblems, that and it's no charge to get them, I'll just opt for them on my pending MY2023 M3. I can always change them out for the standard emblems down the road if I get sick of them.

Now with that said, how hard would they be to swap out? The wheels caps will be easy, but what about the front emblem? Does the bumper need to be taken off? I figure the back emblem would be more assessible.

I stuck a plastic spudger tool under my front emblem, and it came right off. Now, my car has been full PPFd, so, I'm not sure if the detailer did all of the dirty work for me, and just didn't 3M the emblem back on, but mine came off easily.

The rear emblem needed much more work. The adhesive is no joke. I wouldn't be surprised if it was betalink. I started with a heat gun and peeling, but after about 15-20 minutes of messing with that, I decided to try stoners tarminator, and the adhesive just melted away.

Do you have PPF on the rear trunk as well?
If so, did those chemicals hurt the adhesive at all?

I do. I didn't see any issues. Although, I sprayed it right on a microfiber and wiped it.

Thanks for the reply.
So removing the badge itself wasn't an issue, but the adhesive residue afterwards was the PITA?

The trunk badge was fairly easy. IND has a badge removal video. The pita is the adhesive. But after the tarminator, it was quick.

New BMW 50th Anniversary Classic M Roundel install on a M2 Comp. As you can see the front roundel used an adhesive, and the rear roundel used the standard pins at 9 and 3 o'clock. The method of using the nylon strapping is straight from a FCP Euro video....but it is for a roundel mounted with pins, not an adhesive. So the lesson learned is to look at your new roundels to see how they are mounted (adhesive vs pins).

Eye Candy....Shout out to our friends at Studie AG in Japan.

Cheers

GooGone will get rid of the adhesive. Use fishing line to remove the emblems secured with adhesive (like a trunk spoiler). A heat gun/blow dryer will help.

Cheers

Luckily it's just headrests. And the Carbon bucket headrests are removable. You'll have to wait until there is a part number. I don't think they're available, yet.

Got mine from Germany in a week, installed it today.
Rear badge goo was a PITA to get rid of.
My suggestion; rubbing alcohol is your friend. Goo-gone made the adhesive residue melt and actually harder to remove.

Front took maybe 2min to remove and reinstall. Masking the edge took longer than that.
Very happy with the way the 50th anniversary badge looks on BG.

Thank you Limegrntaln for sending me the source for the badges!

Yeah!

You're welcome. I'm glad they had them in stock, and it didn't take too long.

The trunk badge adhesive was the biggest pain in the ass. Stoners bug and tar, and the adhesive melted off with one wipe. Looking good. I pulled those rubber plugs on the front badge and reused them on the 50th badge. It fit nice and snug.

I was very happy with the price and service the vendor provided.

I guess I didn't use enough Googone, mostly because I was being overly cautious not to let it seep through the PPF.

And yes, I made sure to use those clear rubber plugs on the new badge.
I like how the badges provide a little more pop to a rather boring color.

Agreed. I've ordered a few things from them, and they have always had good prices and get it to the US in a timely manner. Im glad it worked out.

I went to BMWCCA Golden Gate Chapter meet, yesterday, and everyone was taking pictures of the badges. There were probably 60-70 cars there, and from what I saw, I was the only G8X with them installed.
