I like what I see, but will it be easy to install. Will it look like the oem parts? I was thinking about buying this bc I feel there is not enough ambient lighting and its not bright enough

I bought one. It should be here within a month. The OEM part is just plastic. Asking if anyone installed this and where to tap the Ambient Llight

I believe that the knee pad section in G20 differs from G80/82 so keep that in mind

What is the difference? I highly doubt bmw would change that piece only for the G8X. I strongly believe they are identical just like many other things.

It was high-lighted and compared on 1 of those G20 / G80 youtube videos I've watched a while ago. Just dont remember now.

I was planning to do this as well, however the carbon pieces are ABS, so that won't look to nice. Could you check if it's possible to take the ABS part of and install the leather ones I have now (extended leather pack)

I don't expect the CF to match our OEM CF. I was thinking about buying the Leather Knee Pads but they cost too much. We'll see if those look decent when installed.

It's not even not matching. It's fake carbon fibre, dipped into water. So that's my biggest concern, if it was real carbon I would buy 100%.

There's a black version without the CF pattern.

I'd be willing to sacrifice the leather knee pads for real carbon not for abs material. If anyone knows if the ABS parts can be exchanged for the existing pieces?

I was thinking about wrapping in Alcantara or leather depending of the quality of the part.

That's a good idea.
But I wonder if there's enough gap between the part and the center console to tuck in the edges.
Where would you source the material? JoAnn fabrics?
It'll be a fun project for sure.

I have a shop I go to. Probably cost $100 for Alcantara
