stupid mod that I almost regret doing. My entire volume button came out of the trim piece. Luckily, once I got that off I was able to remove the silver ring and replace the button. I did in the process of trying to remove the silver ring compress the silver ring. I was able to put the volume knob back into the dash w/ the red volume button but when I turn the volume knob after 3-4 clicks it gets harder, then softer....

Not worth it IMHO and anybody who says 'this is easy' must have surgeon precision w/ hulk like strength (which generally don't go hand in hand)

You didn't line up the silver ring properly.
It has 3 notch and 1 flat. You'll need to line it up correctly.

I love the thought of this, nice subtle mod, however it seems like there are too many problems removing the existing button / silver ring and they are all exactly the sort of thing that goes wrong for me when I try “simple” tasks like this! lol

Think I’ll leave it for now and watch this thread from afar!
