Any reason against keeping the brake cooling ducts out?

You know those brake duct cover things in the fender liner? I took them out bc I thought my tires were rubbing on them.

Anyway, i cant think of a reason to put them back in. Dust and dirt can still get through the fins, i dont have carbon front ducts so the stock mesh will block large rocks and what not.

Am i missing something obvious on why i shouldnt keep these out for daily driving?

I've always wondered the same. Especially considering the insane brake noise these cars have when it is hot out.

Ugh the brake noise. Its so bad. I changed to yellow stuff ebc and still screeches. It's honestly embarrassing for a 100k car.

I know "performance " brakes or whatever. Still should not sound like this imo

Do a few 60-5mph hard stops and see if the noise goes away.

How many miles do you have on the pads? I have yellows on my other car and honestly there was no noise from them.

Keep driving, 100 miles is nothing, and brake hard from time to time.

Ok… back on subject. Anyone know if it’s OK to remove the brake duct covers for everyday use?

Pulled mine out a month ago and have been dailying the car. No reason to put them back in, especially given the nice weather we have here.

My friend tracks his M2 a few times a year, he dailys it without the plugs too. I highly highly doubt a rock would pinball around there, go up the chute, and cause a problem.

Back off topic - I drove about 1,000 miles or so with EBC Yellow and the fronts never quieted down. Let us know how yours do.

The EBC Yellow rears never made a peep from day 1. I put the OEM fronts back on.

I have a G83 and when I have the top down, the brake noise is all I hear. So damn loud. There is a horse crossing in a neighboring town and one time when I had to stop for a crossing rider, I scared the shit out of the horse (got a nasty look from the rider too).
