I live in a harsh winter climate and I'm still only interested in the RWD manual version.

Call me a purist or call me crazy, but that will never change as long as I'm alive and RWD/manual cars are offered. Weather has zero impact on my decision. RWD/manual cars is all we had growing up in Eastern Europe back in the day. Everybody managed just fine. Sure, cars nowadays have a lot more power, but that's why dedicated snows exist.

RWD with proper snow tires > AWD

..cheaper too

Yep. Even if i could get past the looks, I'd hold on to my f-series and wait for an LCI update or something. Isn't that over a 2-year gap? I was at least expecting the G80 to hit next year, and then the G82 a little after.

They will still do it for the f87 m2. But after that?

Half the M2 sales were manual, so I'd say 100% will see a manual in the next M2

that looks really ugly.

I'd actually be interested in an AWD version to deal with the Utah winters.

That's really the clincher.

I have to pick between drive train preference and transmission preference. Don't make me pick a manual over a better-tuned suspension.

That sucks. The F80s struggles to put power down, I wonder what they'll do to alleviate that.

probably not, but the m5 does offer a rwd only mode. Sadly this mode is only available with dsc off. Would be nice if they had the option to allow rwd with mdm on the g8x auto.

I drive a DCT M3 CS and I hate myself!

Its my first auto and at the time I bought it there wasnt a single manual left unsold in the US 6 months after production ended. I was 25k miles over on my 6mt lease and could not keep it.

I had my dct for 3 months and traded it for a manual.

Sucks that awd won't come with manual, it may be a deciding factor for me to get into something else. The F80s struggle to put power down, I wonder if it'll be better with the g80.

With warm tires and a light foot you can get a good launch on the F80. Trust me, I know, it happened once several years ago....

Just purchased my F80 an hour ago from a 3 year lease and glad I did with that timeframe. I was hoping for a 2020 launch.

You'll see less power on the RWD Manual since its likely to be using the same 6spd as the F80. It has a power limit and they don't want to pay development costs to up that limit just for one car. The 0-60 time will suffer vs awd but I bet its rolling numbers will be similar with less power but less weight as well.

I'm sure they'll offer RWD with auto. Way too big of a market to ignore.

Not sure if they are gone do that sense you can turn off AWD to RWD.
I know it's not ideal but it's there.

I mean, that's great and all; just what I want in fact...but not to sound like "that guy", but my F80 will be 4 years old then, and ready for its second owner...there is no way i'm spending money on a car that looks like that.
