Understood. I think the GT4 would have to be a purchase. The F80 leases were just too good to pass up and I've been accustomed to the low exposure.

I would consider M2 CS but it will be hard to get one.

I had both E90 and E92 and I have to say after tune it revs up to 9K
I absolutely loved it !!

Right there with you. What would have been really cool, with all of the special editions for M3/M4, is if BMW released a revised S65 engine in one of them. Hell I’d take the original for a premium in a newer body.

I’m glad Porsche went naturally aspirated with the 718 GT4 for the engine, and did not do what bmw did with the m4 gts.

Ha, that's the problem. There is nothing the fits that mold that is a Porsche.

But since moving to the mountains, I've found there's 3-4 months out of the year I'm barely driving my M3. And I have a dedicated set of winter wheels for it, which work great, but it's not my ski sled, that's what the Jeep is for. Hence, maybe a more dedicated weekend/not winter car.

I've stayed away from Porsche, because IMHO, they are overpriced. Even a Cayman S I build is close to $20k more than what I paid for my M3 to get an equivalent build to what my M3 is.

I understand why BMW decided to do auto only, not sure how in USA, but at least in the UK they only sold a few MT. I also asked my local dealer, how many M4/M3 they sold with MT, they said only very few in 4 years time

Like I said, the GT4 car is a car to buy, not lease. Their rates are horrible. I would not want a 3rd weekend either. My M3 CS would have to go. Both the 981 and 718 GT4 are both flat 6's however! I'm not a fan of the 4 banger 718, despite the fact that they probably drive great. The 981 is my Cayman of choice.

I'm honestly so lost right now. The M3 used to check so many boxes, now I don't know what to do. Porsche is just so expensive in up front costs, and I want to DRIVE it, not baby it to keep the residual high. I think a used 981 is the way to go, but I have that itch for the latest and greatest. Honestly the new mid-engine Corvette is close to being undeniable at this point. I've never been a huge fan of the Corvette, but maybe this one will change my mind.

I have a 3 car garage, but the third spot is for the wife and I don't like to keep any cars out in the elements! Maybe she wouldn't object to me installing a lift!

Seriously. Your CS is beautiful though. I build a Porsche on the website at least once every 2 weeks. Then I see the price.

At least there is still some of us over at NASIOC that are trying to hold on.

This is exactly why I bought one of the last F80 M3s. I had a sinking suspicion that this gen was the end of an era.

I was mainly basing this on BMW sharing more platforms and with the G80 potentially being a mini F90, I thought there is no way a manual is coming.

This is all a tease from BMW (not the OP I feel). No way they will hold back the manual unless they have had some genuine technical problems with S58 Torque etc etc?

Looks like BMW will continue the manual....in the M2. BMW should try to build the future of the M2 with the history of the M3.

Honestly, Porsche was never really an option.

I wanted four doors, something I would track, a fast DD.

That is not Porsche. Haven't seen many a Panamera even at an autox.

I see one way out of this for BMW.

G80 M3 - AWD
G82 M4- AWD
G87 M2- RWD - aka " pure"
G85 M2- SEDAN/GRAN COUPE - RWD - aka "Pure"

See above... And I agree... I don't mind if the successor has a 2 series badge - A sedan is still needed.

Agree... not only am I tired of the " going Porsche " theme... When have they made a compact sedan? NEVER.
