12mm Spacers Driving Feel

Hey Guys,

I am thinking about getting 12mm spacers all around and installing them on my g80 when I get it, but I have been hearing installing spacers that big might cause issues with the car, do you guys know if that's true?

Do I need to do an alignment after installing them? I heard it'll cause more wear on the inside, I also heard it'll damage the suspension on the car is that true?

And last thing I heard is it'll cause bump steer because the car wasn't made to have wheels that offset

What do you guys think? does the car drive and feel the same?

thank you!

Literally none of that stuff is true assuming you have a properly installed, good quality spacer.

I put Kies 10mm spacers on the fronts and 13mm on the rears. They flushed out the stock wheels nicely, no rubs, no vibes, no other weird feelings either.

No, I’m fact spacers give you more inner clearance (where springs are). One would watch out for rubbing on the outer edge, but 12mm is already proven to fit…even 15mm for those who like super-flush or poke, depending on tires.

The only issue to watch out for is vibration, but if you buy hub-centric spacers they rarely vibe. Kies makes good ones that don’t require anti-seize on the hubs (not too tight) while still fitting well.

Bump steer happens when the car is lowered and the alignment is not done on a laser rack afterwards. Spacers or not.

Spacers can cause vibrations if 1. They are poor quality and 2. They are not installed on a clean hub and with a torque wrench.

Spacers also increase the arc/turning radius. Is is especially noticeable on the front axle that steers.

So in a nutshell the steering will not be as sharp.

h&r make’s the best spacers tuv/German imho.
