The look must've grown on you. And if it didn't (meaning you liked it from the start) you're in the minority.

Sorry if this has already been discussed and I missed it somewhere... it looks like the side/lower "grill" openings for sure don't have a mesh, and instead of a CS/CSL style vertical slat.
However... when I look at other G80 pics they also have that same slat and no mesh. What the heck is the distinction on what cars have that, and I guess it looks like they all won't have the mesh in the LCI?

anxiously awaiting the lci as i want to do a manual g80 build here in aus
i was looking at doing an alpina b3 but with an rs6 perf on the way, i think a manual g80 would be more complimentary as much as i am fan of the og angel eye, and i've had several M cars now, i think the g80 actually looks a lot better with this newer drl style the biggest issue for me with front end was never really the grille, but more the weird oblong shaped 4 series headlights and droopy angel eye look this new drl sig is better matched to the grille, both are vertical and it all looks more integrated now |

Man I really don't like those DRLs. The headlight looks a lot less "special" if that makes any sense?

Ya that is definitely a downgrade from the current laser setup which showed alot more design intricacy and depth on the DRL and a much more balanced shape.

might be worth getting an order in now and rolling it to the LCI if they keep the manual moving forward. I have a 23 manual and love it. Its basically the weight of the G87 M2 but with 4 doors ...

Oh, no, not again 😩!
I literally have not been on this forum for over a year because of seeing what BMW has done with their bizarre design direction, and their lack of design continuity throughout there vehicle product lineup. Yes, some things look better in person such as the M4’s kidney grills. But some things look worse in person as well, such as the iX’s exterior and plasticy interior. |

In conclusion, BMW is doing a great job. All people having the old design, i.e driving a current model are happy with it and do not envy the LCI owners. And vice versa, all future LCI owners are happy to get the fresher, newer design. Everybody is happy, well done. Merry Christmas!

Per the future model thread:
“07/24: Another refresh. I don't think BMW will call it "LCI2" but the changes will be noticeable. The interior will get new materials, trims, glass knobs, Iconic Glow kidneys will become available as an option, there will be new wheels. US and Korea will get B48 and B58 TÜ engines (on paper, there will be 7hp bumps for 320i and 330i, and 7hp loss for M340i).” Assuming some of these changes will impact the G80. |
