I also think the screen is really out of place.
2 weeks ago I was in BMW Welt in Munich and the M3 Touring was already specced with the curved display whereas both the M3 Limo and M4 coupe had still the normal clusters which IMO looked so much better. They could have at least invest some more effort into integration of this display so that is covered by the dash. After reading in museum that they focus more and more on 'sustainable design' which means reduced and simplified design and reduced number of parts, it doesn't surprise me any more. There should be at least an option to get old-style style cluster for those who don't like Tesla-style in a driver's car. |

The crazy thing about "the" screen…it's actually two separate screens combined with a odd middle bezel. It's doesn't appear to be one solid screen of continuous pixels which would require the ultra wide pano. Strange.

God love the Germans for brave colors. My M5 is black cause that's what I usually buy. We've had the Macadamia Brown 997.1 since 2009.

Hmmm.... this may drive me to buy a used G80 (lease return) in a few years instead of ordering a new one. Although used ones right now are selling for more than brand new ones.
Those screens are kind of a no-go for me. Maybe they'll grow on me. Even Mercedes is incorporating the same style screens in their cars. I guess it's the way of the future, but there is functionality of a hood over your important gauges so sun glare doesn't become an issue. Will this be an issue with two iPad type screens? I'd assume BMW knows what they're doing, but I'd think it'd be hard to see in certain lighting/glare situations. I think they should have saved the big screens for the next major interior design to do something more like the Mercedes EQS. Here's a good vid of the i4 M50 with I assume are the same screens: Last edited by JetDriver; 07-28-2022 at 07:23 PM.. |

When I test drove the i4 a month or so back I thought the screens looked nice - had a futuristic vibe and it was bright despite being pretty sunny

Love the exterior!
But god the dash is gash. 2 ipads + a couple cheap cases with stands to prop them up, from Walmart. That 'integration' is about as cohesive and synched up as grandma trying to tell the story of how they built the family home, halfway into her 3rd G & T.

Just like the nostrils, the screen will eventually grow on you, and the $18 monthly heated seat subscription service too. It's all part of the long term strategy - telling you what you should like 👍

Pardon my ignorance....but what year is this car? 2023? And when did those tablets become part of the dash?? I'm stunned that I wasn't aware of this setup. Here I am considering ordering one of these cars and now I see this. I feel like a fool.
Love the color though!!! Great choice!! |

After looking at them more, these screens look like they'll be good dust/dirt collectors. I'd be fun trying to get in behind them to clean that stuff out. Last edited by JetDriver; 07-29-2022 at 08:46 AM.. |

Right. Should be about the drive. So why more screens to look at while driving? Shouldn't the safe driving police be screaming about eyes on the road?
I'd be more excited about an improved heads-up display with a better tach and integrated radar detector info. I spend very little time looking at the current gen smaller screens. Are customers pushing for this or is BMW chasing a high-tech Tesla feel? |
