It was explained to me that if you are on TDY your orders must show that you are TDY for more than 120 consecutive days in authorized BMW discount theater. You must also be physically present to take delivery of your vehicle. If you go back to the states before you take delivery they will cancel your order.

That's if you custom order, there are several cars in Germany on hand that you can buy with a short TAD. With the 5% discount and price increase, carbon buckets might be out of the picture, and I am not ordering this car without them. So that means I'll just have to postpone my order till next year.

Wish I could afford the csl, 133k no Mark up is amazing. I believe military sales has 1 or 2 allocation. The 10% won't be in effect probably for a year + is what my dealer is projecting...

OH and receiving my car tomorrow! Been at sea for everrr
Where you stationed? I'm in Vicenza

True but most but not all of those M3/M4's that are here for trade-in were driven hard. I know several of the owners that have traded theirs in that drove theirs hard.

Interesting. I have never seen the 120 day thing and I had read that you can order and have the car shipped to the US.

You mean you can order it from the US or are you saying you can't ship it back to the US after being from here? You certainly can ship back

When I looked into this years ago, you could be TDY overseas for one day and be eligible for this program. You could also ship the vehicle to a BMW dealer in the states... unless something has changed of course.

I think that's best to ask the bmw military sales dealer...

On another note.. Is there a way to activate android auto or car play?

You have to email BMW Connect with your origin certificate and VIN. The dealer over here should provide you with instructions on how to do that.

There is no 120 day rule for TDY. You can literally be TDY to Germany for 1 day and qualify.

I received a bit more info about the program from Tobias (EULER). It seems like the program has changed a bit since the last time I looked into it (around 2010-2011). Back then, you were able to be TDY anywhere in the world and order with this program. I was trying to pick up a 1M back then with deployment orders to the Middle East. Home delivery to the states to any BMW dealer of my choice was included at that time. According to Tobias, now you need TDY orders to Germany and then be on leave orders for 4-5 days to pick up the car. US Customs is also involved at Ramstein. To ship the car back to the states, it's about $1,100 to a port of my choice where I need to pick the car up. The 10% discount is probably never coming back. Apparently the car industry has been devastated by COVID and now Ukraine (a lot of electrical harnesses for BMW's are made there). Mathias says the word in the industry is that it won't recover until at least the end of the decade. So 5% it is. I am afraid, for me anyway, that the 5% discount plus all of the other hoops I'd need to jump through to get over there and get the car back here probably isn't worth it, especially considering you can get the Military Truecar discount over here for at least a little bit of savings. Great deal if you're stationed in Germany already though, but I am ANG with no plans to move to Germany, so it ain't happening for me.

Euler is back up to a 10% discount for military customers. When I was first speaking with my SA at Euler it was only 5%, but shortly after I plunked down my deposit I got the very welcome news that the discount is back up to 10%.

It doesn't appear to be across the board. I believe he said the 10% wouldn't apply to the G87 M2, X1, or hybrids.
