Just got the news from product trainer….

MY24 M3s have been being delivered for a bit now. All with iD8. The MY25 LCI will almost certainly get iD8.5. Is that what you were hoping for with your 24? If so, there appears to be one or two small changes with 8.5 that are nice, but nothing earth shattering. There are plenty of YouTube vids where you can see what's changed.

We don't have the hardware in the headunit that BMW said would be supporting 8.5 or 9.

The X7 LCI came out already last year. All 2023 and later X7s have iD8 and will get 8.5 as well

Yeah I want the new generation X7. Going to hang on for a couple more years until then or change brands for a bit.

Im with you, I have both and tbh I really like I drive 8 more. Can anyone who actually has it say whats wrong with it?

My CA told me 8.5 would be out for my 24 M4C “any day now” I told him he was wrong and showed him the list of the cars getting I’d 8.5. He said other M4 drivers were getting it. I told him it’s likely just an iD8 update. You would think CA’s would be more knowledgeable about the cars they sell. He also told me it was impossible to get into RWD mode until I showed him. He wanted his “genius” to review the features of the car with me and I said no thanks.

I think the features of iD8 are good, but the execution is crap, like there was no thought about integrating it with the dash.

The wife's X5 came with 8 and got updated to 8.5.

I think there is an internal competition at dealers between CA’s and SA’s to see who can provide the most misinformation.

So far I have (almost) zero complaints about the iD8. Works well, fast, intuitive... Not sure why would anyone call the execution "crap". The "almost" part is about dash board programmability. I wish I could program it to look like analog gauges or whatever they offered now...but got used to it anyway...

I like the screen it’s big bright and crips and HVAC in my m3 is so good that I barely every press climate menu. I would agree gauge cluster should have more custom options on what’s displayed.
