Michelin pilot sport cup 2 connect 240

Hey all,

Anyone that used these tires on the (too) heavy G80 M3 can share some information from their own experience please?

1. How many track hours (or days, assuming at least 5 sessions) these tires lasted for you?
2. If driven on public roads only, how many miles these tires lasted for you?
3. Other than being overly expensive, what do you think of these tires?

Cheers!

I just started doing homework on the same topic since I have my Apex wheels on order as of this afternoon. Here is a good video of the "new" Michelin SC2 Connect 240 vs the previous SC2 model:

I have a 283/35-19 square setup coming so there are quite a few options but the SC2 are an interesting option - just not sure how they will hold up on the "mass" of the G8x…

Will share more as I find some facts…

Edit: I will be using these for track duty only - keeping the PS4S for DD.

They've been great on my F80 - plan on doing them on a G80 X early next year. I've also been through PSS, PS4S, Cup2, GY SSR, and now Cup2 C - best tyres yet.

I have gone through a full set of cup2*s which are my dedicated track tires

If you have no camber plates you will destroy them in about 15 sessions.

I went through my fronts in 14 sessions driving hard and 373 miles on track plus about 300 street miles transit to/from the track

Went through the second set of fronts super fast because I left them on with track alignment and wore through the inside shoulders. (Picture)

Rears still had life after 19 sessions and 600 track miles and 700 street miles when I put my second set on.

I have 3 sessions totaling 150 miles on this set and they are in great condition. My circuit is a granite surface with high wear and they do well.

Couple of notes.

First, Heat cycle them first, either when you buy them or get them hot on the street and let them cool for 24 hours to get the release agent out of them. if you don't, you will get a nasty vibration when they get hot the first couple of sessions and they wear prematurely

Second, watch your temp. They dont do well over 180 degrees. I start cooling when tpms reads 160+ and cool down to 140 before pushing again,

Start at 26 psi cold at the track (whatever resting temp is) and try to hit 32-33 hot @160-180.

They are super slick cold, and take a little bit to get warm.

They stick well hot and give clear audible indication when they're letting go.

I experienced this today in the canyons. Driving hard and got temps (according to tpms) to 120°F and 40psi. The car vibrated and I thought something was wrong. It stopped vibrating when I backed off and got temps down to 110°F-ish. These tires are fairly new, probably only one autocross on them, which I know didn't heat them up that much. Probably a few hundred miles of around-town errands.

I drove home an hour after that. In your opinion, after the use I described above, would the release agent still be on the tires? If so, would letting them sit for the next 24 hrs be sufficient, or should I go drive hard for 20 minutes then immediately park it in the garage?

Thanks for any help.

I have done a day when they were initially cycled and it will eventually go away. They vibrated first two sessions, then stopped after that.

Thanks, hopefully my next drive will show the same eliminaton of vibration at high temps. it was very very alarming vibration.

It was also around 50°F ambient. You think that added to the problem?

I don’t believe so. Its the tires getting hot, air temp doesn’t matter. I thought a hub bearing went. Felt it more when loaded.
It will go away…
