24’ M4 Vert Coding Question

Anyone on here that’s good with coding/flashing know if it’s possible to edit the seat limitations in the m4 conp convertible? As stated on a prior thread the seat does not recline and push back all the way (and at the same time) to prevent hitting the windscreen. It seems like a digital governor that could be edited by the right programmer. I fit fine but would like a little more mobility because I’m a giant lol (6’7” 250lbs).

Would love to explore options here. Thank you for any input! Love the car!

It's a bmw thing, they all do that.

Why is this an issue? Can't you just set the memory and leave it alone?

You aren't understanding his post. The seat memory won't help. He wants to be able push the driver's seat back all the way. The car electronically (as opposed to mechanically) limits how far back it can go. So he is asking if it can be coded to allow the seat to go back to its mechanical limit (then he could save that position in memory).

Have you asked BMW if the seat can be physically moved further back on its mountings? I do not know if BMW does this, but some manufacturers have the ability to relocate the seat on the mountings to give further rearward, and in some cases forward movement of the seat.

So the seat does go back far enough.

Jimbethesda helped echo my question.

The seat does recline pretty far and the track allows the seat to go back beyond where I need it. The problem is that it electronically limits me from getting both the recline and the setback where I’d want it.

If you lay the seat back and then push the set back to the back of the track the car electronically pushes the seat to an reef position to not cross an imaginary line.

Ah ha! So "windscreen" means that thing that you put in to reduce turbulence, not the windscreen (aka windshield) in the front of the car that keeps bugs out of your teeth (obscure motorcycle reference).

Wow. I'm sure bmw did that on purpose to reduce warranty claims. Hmmmm... It's surely a setting somewhere that an expert coder could change. The hard part is finding the name(s) of the parameter.

If Almaretto can't, you may also want to ping Alex @ Alpine motorsports, he's a wizard

Ping Alex. When I had a seat swap issue on a previous car, he was the only one able to fix it.

Thank you for the successful recommendation of Alex! He was able to successfully adjust the coding that limited the seat!

For any of the taller folk that care about this thread, reach out to Alex! He can adjust the code to allow full movement of the seat!
