2024 M3 Comp xDrive ordered! RS5 sold
Well looks like I've given in! There was an allocation at my dealer for a build next month, and got an incredible offer on my 2022 RS5. I couldn't pass on the opportunity especially with the LCI coming (I don't like the new lights). I've always gone back and forth between the RS5 and M3, and felt it was the right time to get back into a G chassis car! Very excited!
Went with Skyscraper over full Fiona Red (regular sport seats). Only options I didn't check were the CCB's and exterior carbon package (I'll do those carbon pieces aftermarket). Glad to be back, although I never really left hah 😊

I'd honestly consider going back and checking the box for the Carbon package. If you had to get it off the lot, I'd understand, but having the bumper inlets and mirror caps out off the line is actually quite nice. Considering what you get and how much after market parts cost, the factory cost for that and the diffuser is actually not a terrible deal.
There's some extra carbon parts you can buy aftermarket like the corners and side skirts but those are much less of a pain/hassle to deal with installing and trying to get ones that fit and look right (I had trouble with third-party mirror caps and wind noise, for example) Otherwise, congrats! |

Congratulations, I also came from Audi. Absolutely love my G80 and have zero regrets making the jump.
I too made a similar choice regarding CF and didn't want everything the OEM package came with like the lip or spoiler. Either way, you can't go wrong. |

Congrats,
I too came from an Audi RS5 gen 9.5. Enjoyed that car very much, but it was no comparison to the ‘23 M3CX I replaced it with. I still give the sexiness nod to the Audi, but the g80 makes it up in aggressiveness looks. Just looks bad assed. The s58 vs the 2.9 bi-turbo in the rs5 is leagues ahead in terms of power/perfomance and creamy smoothness. You can’t beat an inline 6 in terms of buttery smooth and perfectly balanced design/power delivery. Other pluses to the g80: Interior quality is nicer with better materials especially when optioned with full leather Interior seems better screwed together. No rattles on my g80 but had several in the RS5 Tech is way more advanced in g80 with idrive 8. Chassis is so much more dynamic. Audi rs5 is more like m340. 7 or 8/10s of m3 dynamically. My M3 is fully optioned except the buckets and CCB’s. Getting the external carbon pack upfront while costly ( I’m in Canada too), is worth it imo. All the carbon will match and fitment will be perfect. Last edited by Znomorph4theWin; 01-24-2024 at 06:27 AM.. |

Yeah I totally get that. For $5500 though I'd rather put it towards my fund for a weekend car, or even other mods that I'll likely want to do on the G80 (exhaust for example). I'll get more satisfaction from that right off the bat.

The G80 is your fun weekend car...you'll realize this once you get behind the wheel. And if you're going to spend money on third-party carbon anyway...most of it is going to be crap quality unless you spend somewhere between 50-75% the cost anyway...you're close enough you may as well just option the factory package.

IN USA it may feel less because of the much higher paid salaries on same job positions and lower priced housing for the same type of houses. After the pandemic everything became (groceries, gas, housing, etc) so much more expensive while wages didnt go up in the same manner. I guess thats the logic explanation for Burrcold's choice |

woahhhhhhhh I never thought I'd see the day. Congrats! I'm simultaneously not surprised that you're switching out your car so soon.... but am surprised that you're going with a G80.
Does this mean I can start talking shit about Audi now?

Hahaha I knew you would be quick on me here 😉. You can talk shit all you want about Audi lol, but my feelings about both brands still stands (love them both and have maintained that stance). I would still recommend an RS5 to anyone buying in this space, but like the G80 (for different reasons) it's not for everyone.

Anyways, not to belabour the exterior carbon package and whether it's worth it or not..added to the build, added aftermarket later down the road, or maybe not at all. Who knows. For the same price I optioned the full merino leather, so I'm not penny pinching. It's more about not caring as much for one option vs another.

And financing another $5500 over 5+ years is only another $100ish/mo, easily affordable by someone paying $2000/mo for their car already. If you can't afford the extra $100/mo, you can't afford the base $2000/mo cost. |
