Completely disagree. The F80 (and in its time the E9x) are some of the most aggressive looking street cars (non exotics) in the world.

I think I speak for the vast majority of us when I say we dont buy these cars because they are sleepers.

Sounds like my wife. She drove her 6MT 335is Coupe at all California tracks from Chuckwalla to Laguna Seca, many times. In Europe she drove my M4 at Nurburgring Nordschleife, Circuit Park Zandvoort, and Spa Francorchamp, as well as 271 km/h (168 mph) on the Autobahn. Last summer she got an M3 ZCP and we're both signed up for 2-day HPDE at Buttonwillow Raceway in March.

She's cool...

I'm not sure, but I think they’re going to release the 4 Series with the M3 and then release the M4.

Personally I'll wait for the LCI 12.5 version of the competition model but get your manual M3 before they're truly gone.
Yep, the last manual BMW. I'm getting it in 4-5 years for sure, LCI

If I don't go M2 comp or whatever M2 is out I will likely go M3 pure. Which ever one I go with will likely be my last new manual car.. sad times.

This is a point that shouldn't be underestimated. Any car that's "the last of X" (for any X) is going to be much more appreciated and valued many years after it's been produced.

As will I...no question. Transmission choice is more important to me than Comp Pack, AWD, etc.

I will tune, go with aftermarket or M Perf Springs, and do whatever else I need to do to get the car to where I need it to be. The transmission is the foundation to build a car on.

Something I saw on BAT today brought me back here:

In 1999 Lamborghini fitted a manual gearbox to the 529hp AWD Diablo. And we're still cool with BMW's stance here?

BEAT!

Analogue temp in my M4CS and I prefer it to the digital climate in my
Previous F80.

Cars are so tech laden these days, sometimes a step towards more basic is so refreshing!

I always run cars in manual mode rather than auto for aircon but for me I can't do single zone unless I want to be single after the first trip I go on with the missus. Yesterday I had my side at 16C, fan speed at 5 and seat ventilation on 2, she had her side off completely but the seat heater on 2.

That fact alone meant I knew I couldn't get an M4 CS.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of the different diameter wheels. Also, 18" front wheels would mean that it's not likely to fit the 6 piston calipers from the M2C on the front of the M3.

Cannot imagine water injection on a daily (how do you refill in the trunk without emptying it first during a trip?) but additional electric motors would make sense...
Water injection comes into play when you're making max HP for a sustained period of time. Do you anticipate that to be the case during daily driving?

Gotta say, shame on BMW for not willing to put DCT on RWD models. But then again, I understand as the manual uptake would definitely be lower if offered with both (i.e. can't make profit so we won't do it ).
It is sad how far BMW goes to push this xDrive on M cars for who can't(X) drive. Instead of being vague about "auto" they can do us a favor and just say 8 speed torque converter so some consumers can move onto other brands.

Plain speed is just boring.
This is what happens when you have a clown from Audi in charge for a year and a half. Good thing he wasn't there longer, he would have found a way to make a transversal V6 M3 with the entire engine hanging in front of the front axle

On one hand my inside me cries thinking of a slushbox and xdrive on an M3
On the other hand I know that it will continue to be the best among its peers. I don't think there is anywhere else to go. Closet Porsche fanboys will say 'get a Porsche'. Really? A Cayman S with a 4 cylinder engine that's 90k? No thank you

I had a 987.2 Cayman and went back and looked at the new 718s before getting my M4...the 4 banger was an issue for me. In a side story I went auto and now DCT from a decade of driving manuals due to a leg injury (too much running) and I think I have myself back to where I'm ready to daily a stick again. This is definitely true without a double clutch. The ZF8 is amazing, but it's not a DCT. What I sincerely hope for is an M3 xDrive with the stick. I doubt it gets made, but I'd sure have one if it does. Though I love RWD, my life (20+ days on the slopes) kind of demands the AWD.

Minor adjustments to the expected M3 options: CCB on base, not only competition, carbon bucket seats (likely not available in the U.S.) as an option.

BMW's 6MT can't handle more than 480 lb-ft of torque, so probably no manual in the base. That's why the Pure is only rated for 444 hp and <480lb-ft of torque.

Incorrect. F10 M5 came with 6 speed as well and that engine was rated 530 lb-ft.

Right? And plus, it would be even more weird if they offered it as part of a package, and called that the "Competition Package".

Heck, I even heard a rumor they were going to do just that for the F80 M3, but I don't know if they ever did or not. There's absolutely no info out there about it, sadly. I'm pretty sure they never offered it though, especially not for 2018 Sakhir Orange II M3s sold in San Francisco.
