Yeah sure if you have some way to lift the car or are young and thin and can get under it. Neither was an option for me. My dealer installed it for free.
I love when people just assume we can all do what they do. “5 minutes” for me would take a lot longer and likely cause further back damage. Not to mention needing an engine hoist to get off the ground😂. |

Zunsport installed on a lowered car with no lift lol, was simple two 10 mm bolts with a ratchet and just pressing the screws in with a angle screw driver to get pressure and it’s mounted. Not going anywhere and does the trick. I’m happy and not stressing driving as much.

Ordered on Monday, arrived in Oregon today. I've never had something get here from England this fast. I guess Saturday is "go under car" day.

I installed it without lifting the car and in my garage. Car is at stock height.

What is the actual purpose of the rubber piece? Is it actually needed? Because with the mishimoto it sits lower

I also noticed that my installer removed the part that holds that rubber. Was that suppose to be removed ? The video on YouTube doesn’t show it does

I just read the entire thread and i got my answer on the rubber piece that gets transferred over to the Mishimoto unit. However there’s no mention of the plastic piece that is attached to the oil cooler that is where the rubber piece gets attached to. My installer removed that as well. Mishimoto instructions nor video make any mention of removing that plastic part. Logically I would assume it doesn’t matter if it’s there or not anymore since it’s main priority is so the rubber piece has somewhere to attach to.

I figure that. But is there any harm in leaving that off since is primary purpose is no longer needed?

Oh, I should have taken a picture of the other side of the box. FedEx did not "handle with care". The guard itself is feels very sturdy and survived FedEx just fine.

Zunsport installed. Pics below of the oil cooler at 3 years of age (and dirty...). As reported, the install is very easy though one of the two self-tapping screws would not self-tap. Took me longer to find the bits for my drill (they were hiding) than to do the install.

Its primary purpose is aiding in cooling the radiator through altering the pressure of the area behind the rubber dam, not deflecting rocks, so I would probably want it back on. It's not 100% critical but if your installer took it off when he wasn't supposed to, I'd get him to put it back on.

This. But it seems if that black trim piece holds the cooler since it has one on the opposite side?
