OMG! This link was a revelation for me.

I can buy the lower fascia carbon fiber "air breathers", part of the $4700 exterior carbon fiber package, for $564 as a standalone item. Now I can remove this $4700 package from my build because these front CF air breathers are all I really wanted out of this package.

Many thanks again for sharing the BMW Performance Parts link.

Oooops! Spoke too soon. It's $564 EACH. Yikes! Should have known. But still, this may work for me. Hmmm...

haha, still less than 4700
if you really want only the breather, for me all CF parts are mandatory

Made the same mistake re the carbon sill guards. Thought they were quite good value till it doubled

Yes, I don't THINK I need all the CF parts, but I will really go back and stare at My Build all night, in an attempt to figure out what I really want. Decisions, decisions.... But First World Problems for sure.

right, everything is "each", which I do like, in case you only need to buy one later, for a replacement.

Finally got to sit in the new buckets today. 6'; 75 kg and boy do these things hug you in all the right ways. I didn't even adjust the side bolsters but I'm assuming they were at the loosest setting cause the car was off and they still hug you. It's not overdone for me but it's definitely as snug as a glove. The carbon piece on the bottom is non-intrusive. Thigh bolsters are not too intrusive either after you manage to jump into the seat. Egress is not too difficult, ingress was slightly harder than egress but nothing crazy. And for me these seats give a lot of character to the car. I like the way that you gotta hop in and after you're in the lateral support you feel is outstanding. But at the same time I don't have any mobility issues and this is definitely a young guy's seat.

First let me say the carbon seats look amazing and at first they felt ok. After 30 mins they were so uncomfortable there is no way I would buy them. The lack of adjustability and lumbar support was unrealistic for some one like me who is 6'3". Also the hump in the center is so high it does not allow you to stretch out your legs. There is no way I could take the car more than an hour from home. Add to that there is no way my wife would agree to date night if she was wearing a dress or skirt make them a pass for me.

This is what I have been saying, these seats are great, just not for everyone.

Nothing to do with age or mobility...

You have people driving their M Cars for 20K miles / year on a daily basis in sun, rain, snow etc., on the other hand you have people parking their M Cars hard on cars & coffee events and drool over the seats.

I wish we could spec the car to only have the bucket on driver's side! 🤓

Wearing a dress is only part of the fun when you having racings seats I'm sure she could be convinced to love them once you take her on a spirited drive through the twisties. I can see that being an issue but hey there's always the back seat too!

I think the few small little grievences are well worth having an epic daily and something you can track

Literally just checked out the car at my local dealer. The carbon buckets are nice but definitely poke your sides a bit, and I don't have any love handles. But after a minute you get used to it.

went to the dealer to check out my car today, still havent done PDI but got to sit and touch it... im 6'2 and 215lb, the most challenging part is def the leg bolsters you def need a diff approach to get in and esp out of the car. Getting in I guess you can sink your torso into it and move legs after, but getting out takes bit of lower body strength to lift yourself out.

But once you are in, the seat is very comfortable. Side bolster hugs you but in loosest settings I didn't find them overly tight. Being unable to move your legs out as much would be the main limiting factor on long trips. I didn't find the carbon nut holder bothersome, but maybe I wasn't excited enough to see the car this morning

This was the dealbreaker for me especially driving in a manual transmission. But what a sight to behold! You must be excited.

hahaha they gotta move my car up the queue for PDI

But will say that if I had a commute for work , I wouldn't have spec'd the carbon seats or the SPY/YAS combo lol, would feel very self conscious about pulling it into work garage

Oops, guess I might be feeling self conscious later this year or whenever they decided to have us actually return to the office.

You have to roll in like you own the place and no one will say anything. Bold colors are the way to go, confidence is key whether the car is hot pink or blue.

Yes, this is something to think about before you purchase.

Sat in these first time yesterday. Not too difficult to get in an out. They do seem like they would rub against your inner thighs though (lower near to the knees fortunately), so I think it might bother if driving 6MT, probably less so for the auto.
