BMW select I believe you still carry the risk similar to financing. I think OP's original reason for wanting to lease was to offset the risk.

Going to get my lease on G80 that I put deposit on in December. It is now en route on a ship.
Quoted .00151 MF in Dec, base is now .00190. They are now quoting me .0023. That’s max markup right? Incredibly frustrating after waiting 6 months. |

That's gonna be an ugly lease payment. You should check out BMW Select or alternate financing.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, aware of that. On a ~95k MSRP car and with the market heading where it’s heading, a little bit worried about getting locked into financing vs knowing my exposure completely upfront on a lease. What would be your stance on that? Confident I can get ~3.5% from a local credit union, which apples to apples, is more favorable, but also a bit worried if I have a fender bender and get any depreciation on an asset I own.

The CU that I went with a few years back on my F80 has 2.19% for up to 72 months.

Yeah it's actually obscene how BMW MF is approaching Mercedes AMG MF. I wanted to lease but at these rates I would be better off buying with a loan from my local credit union (quoted at 2.39% 72 months which is about as good as I've seen). Or maybe just wait it out and see what happens when/if supply lines stabilize and we hit a recession.

Agreed leasing makes no sense. I took over a stripper F80 lease a few years ago, $650/month, nothing down only MSDs. Times have certainly changed.
I'm going with bmw select. Hoping the market stays strong and I don't get bored of the car. Doubt I will, and like the idea of Select |

I went ahead and put down a 2k deposit for a MY23 M3 Xdrive. Dealership's selling at MSRP and they say it's gonna take a year + 3 months for allocation and delivery. I'm in no rush though so we'll see how things pan out in the next 12 months.

If it's a year, then 3 months for delivery, it'll be a MY24.

True, but no dealer can accurately project that far out. I'm willing to bet things slow down dramatically over the next year.

The deposit is refundable as well so if I ever get tired of waiting or simply don't want the car anymore it's no issue. |

why don't you just find a dealer with an allocation? |

True, but MSRP and options could end up being $4K+ over what a similarly equipped 2022 is, so there's a possibility to find a car now (or in transit) for similar money.

Can dealerships move allocations with others?
Dealer gave me an allocation number in February and I have been moved 5 times. Last move was to week 23 but now im back at 105 with no production date. They keep saying I am first in line but I refuse to believe since February being first in their production at the dealership and an allocation hasnt been given to them. I didn't order anything extra.
