Im moving to a C63. I've been driving BMW's the last 25 years, last 4 cars have been M3/4's. The grill is a deal breaker. It's just too ugly!

600RPM lower redline
No more dual clutch
Single piston rear brakes
5in Longer and .5 taller than the outgoing M3.

I think the F80 M3 looks better than the new M3 in every angle especially the back. I also figured out why BMW designers did that monstrosity to the front. BMW simply could not figure out how to stop car thieves from stealing your F80's by copying the key over the computer so they gave new M3/4 owners an absolute security system by scaring away car thieves.

The hood is very Dodge Charger/Ford Mustang and it's not even functional. To step away from the power dome for this is incredibly disappointing.

I agree 100%.

This car, Mustangs and the red G82 with "performance parts" now apparently target the same demographic... tacky muscle car racers who only care about 0-60 straight line performance and whose driving input is "full-throttle and hang on tight". (check your tire pressures so you don't jump the barriers, of course! )

...and BMW couldn't event improve the 0-60 time.

My best guess is because it's a pre-LCI G80/82...I'm sure there'll be a LCI comparison when time

100% agree with this. I'm not sure how the F80 is outdated with this new design. The G80 just looks like a total re-design targeted at a totally different demographic. It's okay if that's what they want to do. People just shouldn't kid themselves that this is bold and forward looking when, in fact, BMW is changing their direction. I've loved the evolution of the M3 all the way through the F80, but this new generation is just a complete turn-off. The end of an icon. Oh well.

BMW brought in a bunch of Audi engineers and dropouts from the local community college design school to create the icon of the M brand? Wow. They must be so ashamed that they didn't even want to stick on the M3 badge on the press release photos? The headlines are coming in and Car and Driver called it "controversial looks". That is a bad sign my fellow enthusiasts. They said controversial b/c they can't publish vulgar language like "it looks like shit".

We should have a moment of silence to let this all sink in. The F8X was the first time in M history the next gen of M3/4s were not only better performing, but also lighter than their predecessors. There was no spec that was not better. Maybe the exhaust note was the most "controversial" thing about it but its a TT, what could you do? But you could at least forgive that when you looked at the torque curve. It was also more efficient! Then the chassis was stiffered and further refined so much that you could bolt the rear subframe directly to the floor like a race car. The chassis was stiffer than an E30 M3 race car with a roll cage. That was impressive stuff. The F8X was designed with the same DNA as the original M3. Everything was improved upon from the E9X. For me, it was a MUST have to upgrade from an E60 M5 to an F80 M3. I studied the specs, drooled over the press release photos, test drove the first demos and got in line for an allocation.

But this time, it's different. There is no emphasis on weight savings, no improved rigidity or aerodynamics? But hey, let's just rice out the cars with CF as much as possible and hope nobody notices its a freaking porker. When the press photos have captions that say "Eye Catching Diffuser" you know they've sold out and are peddling to the ricers. Basically BMW built a German interpretation of a Lexus GS F Sport!

I was hesitant to say stuff like F80 values are gonna go up b/c its sounds self serving. But now after seeing everything including the specs and performance numbers. I'm gonna have to agree that F80 values aren't gonna tank and will more likely rebound/stabilize sooner than later. If you're a leaser, just buy your car out. Might as well keep a good car instead of getting into a placeholder and hope for BMW to correct course.

This is just horrid.
Couldn't have said it any better. Bmw M has been catering to badge whores and not the performance buyers as of late.

The grill on the M cars looks better than on the regular 4 Series, but the front fascia looks like they had no idea what they were doing and just gave up.

Also while the F32 front lights worked pretty well on the F30, the G22 front lights don't work on the G20 in my opinion. Even if it had retained the regular G20 grill, they just look/feel too small.

The increase in weight is also baffling, I get that the car is 13+ cm longer but good Lord. Especially after the F8x family was focused on losing weight compared to the E9x M cars, that is shocking

2022 BMW M3  [9.50]
I moved on to Porsche at the right time. That thing is so hideous. I am thankful to have owned some cool BMW M cars though.

2XE92's, F10 M5, F82 M4, and finally the F80 M3.

They should have keep it along the lines of the F80 M3 and slapped a V8 into. They would have owned the market if you ask me. For those looking on what next to buy. Get your self a nice used 2017-2019 991.2 911.

Feel like the F82 M4 is getting prettier compaires to this new M4. About weight, I'm not sure, anyone took their F80/F82 M3 M4 for a weight? Are those 3450lbs something accurate? Cause the weight gain is just too unreal.

Even the G20(M340i) looks fundamentally more agressive. A little work on the lower section of the front bumper and maybe vertical slats in the grill, plus carbon fiber additions, and you'd have yourself a winner that ups the game from M340i.

I don't have a formal background in photo-editing, but I have a free-ware program that I played around with this morning (sorry for the amateur look but gives an idea).

If they just carried the front across and got rid of the lower vertical midline strut it shouldn't change the aerodynamics or engine airflow requirements, and would pay homage to a more traditional BMW appearance.
