I'll post this repeatedly on all the wagon threads: BMWNA - this is the only way I will buy a G8X, or ANY new BMW right now. If this becomes available in the US I will be marching to the dealer to put down a deposit.

There should be a poll set up, how many current X3M/X4M and M3 owners would switch to a G81, as I see this owner demographic purchasing a wagon.

Bring it to the US and sell at reasonable price (X3M price). No way you will get any sales with "wagon premium"

Went and seen the M3/M4 again but first time seeing the M4.
We also had discussion on the Touring where I got to see more from the initial teaser they showed. Interesting enough. They openly admit no reaction to the grille drama for the LCI and Touring introduction in 2022. Which means the Grilles are staying. They are confident to that customers will appreciate the bold new look but also the cars vast quantity of immense capabilities.

The RS6 is definitely the larger vehicle here. But I doubt the G81 is not significantly smaller. Probably 10% in all dimensions. Since M3 is no longer the same size as it used to. F80 size felt nimble compared to a RS7 but definitely no E46

As the owner of two wagons currently (Volvo V90 and BMW 3 Series), the second they make this available in the US I will put down a deposit.
Sadly the market for wagons in the US is very small. Audi is bringing the RS6, but it is a one time thing. They did bring back the A6 Allroad though. MB sells a few hundred E63's per year. I do think BMW should do a limited run of wagons for the US. Federalization is not that expensive and it would be a halo car if they did it right. |

What I take back from the M3 against M4 is the emphasis on the wide track at the rear and how the body is pumped and defined to accommodate this. There is not much over that from the standard 4 to the M4 as the same between previous F32 and F82 as they had a wider track than the sedan. There is an Alfa-ish quality to the front of the car which in some way is seen as respect as they did benchmark the Guilia whilst developing this generation. They are hoping to get their hands on the GTA. The M3 was a shade of Black with Orange interior and the M4 was São Paulo Yellow With almost matching interior which was shown recently. Black defines the grille very well. It does disguise as well as enhances. What I can say for the M4 is that they really have distinguished it from the 3. F32 was still too close proximity to F30. Here it looks like a proper Sports car. The stance , the proportions and that grille it's all fantastically formed. My favourite design feature is the bonnet grooves which I am told will be used in a Future performance model to more potential. It's very retro but classic BMW Motorsport.

I suppose I could wrap my F31 in the same pattern and pretend I have an M3 Touring in my driveway, but as soon as I drove it, I'd be back to reality...
I still love my F31

As a wagon fan, I have to say my fandom for a manual outweighs my fandom for a wagon.
I would much prefer a 6MT/G80 Sedan with a cargo box attached to the roof rather than a ZF8/G81 Wagon. My 6MT G80 will be my pseudo wagon with low profile cargo-box. Problem solved |

Anybody going to the 'ring in the next few days to see if it's going round and get some more photos?

Amen. I intend to keep the M2C for a long time, but that wouldn't stop me from adding the G81 next to it in 2-3 years. I've already put myself on a local dealer list with the intent of buying it should they sell it to the US Market. Anyone interested should do the same.
