Burbbles

What are they exactly? What I mean is, how do companies dial them in? It's on deceleration but, is the ECU mapped to adjust timing or air/fuel flow or what? How is it that a base Macan sounds so good?

They are something that was cool about 10 years ago. No company should dial that shit in/ burble setting OFF!!!! Make sure you put the spark plugs in also to get that nice fireball while your at it🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel.

I’m not a huge fan of them either but to the OP’s original question, it’s dialed in by adjusting fuel and timing…you get a little extra unburned fuel in the exhaust and let the burbles begin.

I had a 2020 Supra and that thing sounded like gunshots. I got it tuned just so I could kill the noise.

I believe a touch of burble sounds nice, but it's when people overdo it that it starts to sound absurd.

BMW has pretty much gotten rid of burbles with the latest software update…I can barely hear them if at all.

I just put in a single midpipe the other day, it burbles for days! They're still there with the 03/2024 update, unless you're talking any the speaker burbles.

Highly highly doubt BMW is touching anything with cosmetics or ASD in these updates.

As well I don't notice any difference between this and any previous updates.

Anything more technical? Is timing advanced or retarded? Is it unspent fuel igniting in the exhaust system? Does it affect the cat? Is it just wasted fuel that decreases fuel mileage (hard to believe a modern auto company would allow that)? What actually happens?

Just curious. I hear a lot of wild cars these days - not Pep Boys Specials but, cars straight off the lot (I live half way between a McLaren dealership and a Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus dealership).

I’m not so sure. My car is quieter than it was for sure. I coded out ASD a while ago so I’m not getting any sound enhancement.

Not sure how the downpipe would factor in but in my totally stock exhaust the burbles are super faint. My car is on 11/2023.5

downpipes will amplify the existing sound.

if the burble is super faint now, with downpipes they are more noticeable

This might be a dumb question, but did you by chance turn off the exhaust button on the console? I believe that will also control the real burbles with ASD coded off.

It’s a fair question but no, it’s on. Honestly, it’s not a big deal just an observation on my part.

My Exhaust Button controls Burbles. Sport has slight burbles with button on, Sport+ is very agressive pops. This is with most of ASD coded out, but not 100%. You can hear some bass enhancement but not the full loud sound. But I can be in Sport+ with the button turned off and it will not do any burbles or pops.

No I have asd off mostly. Bimmercode gives you options. It is absolutely coming out the exhaust it has no mufflers when switched open. It shows up on exterior camera shots. So while when asd enabled it is ALSO coming through speakers it's not just speakers.
So in my setup the button controls bubbles on and off.

Did you delete the activation code in professional mode? If not it’s still on.

Oddly enough someone on the forums posted they're on xx/2024 already
Can't make sense of it

It has more than on or off now in Bimmer code. It is a substantial decrease from stock. I've had it off before with pro coding. But I like mostly off instead.
