OEM Clutch Stop Destroyed at 750 Miles?
Not new to manual cars. However, this is by far the most inconsistent manual I’ve owned/driven, so I figured I would spend the 20 bucks on a clutch stop (not BMS, the ebay one) since most of the reviews on here indicate that it has improved the 6MT. When i did the install, which took all of but 30 seconds, this is what I found…
I don’t understand what BMW was thinking here, as this simply should not be possible. And, as others have noted, the replacement absolutely helps with the clutch feel and travel. Anyone else find something similar when they replaced theirs? Last edited by Gang80; 04-17-2024 at 07:49 PM.. |

I don't think that's something that usually happens...probably just bad luck. The stock clutch stop on mine survived several thousand miles, and being removed, put back in, and then removed again without taking any damage.

Yeah that's not normal. Can you tell what material it is? Looks fairly soft.

My oem stop was intact and I refitted it to my new model clutch stop.
What thickness did you go for?

After reading that you have to modify the BMS one I went with the ebay one. I did not remove any of pieces off the ebay one, so full thickness. |
