Question Lowering Springs Question

Hey guys, I am ok with losing out on suspension warranty but I would like to keep my powertrain warranty.

My question is, does anyone have any experience when it comes the powertrain warranty on a car that has lowering springs and spacers installed?

I feel like the car would look infinitely better with a set of springs on it

Thanks!

I personally don't have any experience with warranty claims on anything powertrain related, but I've always brought my car in for service with lowered suspension.
I doubt the dealer would void the powertrain warranty just because you have a set of spring on the car.

And yes, it looks 100x better lowered.

Most dealers will simply decline work in affected areas, the warranty isn't automatically "voided" in most cases, despite what you read on forums. All this guarantees is keeping you from buying another BMW from them in the future. Most times dealerships will want to be paid for work if aftermarket parts are to blame.

Springs and spacers are non-mechanical, there really isn't much to fail unless installed improperly - I wouldn't worry about it. If still worried about warranty, look into starting a relationship with a local independent or tuner and save the larger warrantable items for the dealership.

M Performance HAS. No dealership excuses. I would take the spacers off, if you bring the car into the dealership to get work done. There's a thread on here, about someone bringing their car in for brake work, and getting denied warranty, because of spacers.

Picture of my car lowered on M Performance height adjustable springs, and EAS Spacers 10mm / 12mm

Thanks man! I may have more question but already stepped on this thread enough. Your car sits very nice and those are perfect camber setting for street/sport. Am a bit surprised that 10mil spacers at -2 camber looks that flush and can rub. Perhaps there is a dimensional difference between G80/G82.

You're welcome. It seems like one of my friends pointed out that the G82 RWD cars are the ones that aren't rubbing. He's got 12/12 and no rub. 3 of us that have xDrive with 10 to 12mm spacers up front, we all rub. I know the xDrive has a quicker steering rack than the RWD car. That may play into where the wheels track as the tires are turned. Not sure. But it's not great. This is only with Pirellis. The Michelin guys aren't having the same problems.

Assuming you are rubbing on the fins in the front of the wheels wells at steering lock? If so, take 5 minute with a heat gun to push the fins forward a little and you should be good. Pretty sure I was the first to run 18 mm spacers up front and I just cut the fins out.

I did see R44s video with the spacer install. Block of wedge wood and a heat gun. I may do that.

Lowered on KWHAS with 15mm spacers front and back, -3.1 front camber, -2.5 rear on MSP4S*. Slight rubbing on the front fender liner that was solved by cutting off a few fins.

To keep your warranty and sleep well , pay some USD more and install the BMW performance chassis .
