Status 111 & still cant commit: CF Exterior and Full Leather. Have a little time.

My kid says to skip them and use the $7500 or so to take him to Japan.

We are taking the car on an epic 18 day road trip this summer. Who needs Tokyo?

Just going to share my opinion on CF and full leather...

Get both if you can. This way your car will be fully built the way you want it to be.

If you have to skip one of the options I would skip CF. You can always add CF parts later but getting full leather would be very difficult if not impossible to get after the car is fully built.

If you skip both options you HAVE TO go to Japan! (joke)

I would love to go to Japan. 2025 spring break? Seriously though I went to the dealer today to have another look at full vs extended and CF Ex. They did not have anything with either on the floor. Was driving by & went on a whim. That being said - the plastic does not bother me. In fact I like the black better than the colored leather. I think you can option black leather but that costs more money and time - did not ask sales. All I can think of is my kids putting their mud soaked sasquatch feet on that leather. If I had nickel for every time I have said "put your feet down" I would be helicoptering to my yacht right now.

There are about a half dozen dealers with in 30 mins from me & I will find a proper sample this weekend and have a look to be sure. As the car is to be built between Feb 18 & 24 I have a min to decide but not much more.

Portimoa Blue is great. MT is too much work for me. Thankfully I am still 112. I am thinking I will actually add the Full Leather. My thought was I am driving it not marrying it. Why spend the cash. Aesthetics wont help accelerating out of a curve. But I read a long post about Extended vs Full and someone mentioned the smell even after a year it was fresh. Waiting for the rep to get back to me.

Seems like a good idea. No idea how. The MT's are both 150. I am guessing MT's are built in separate batches. I am 112. Any idea if end of MY24 production runs could get the ID 8.5 chipset? I dont care so much about 8.5 as hands free driving up to 75 mph or so. I know its not offered (for technical reasons) but I might pony up a subscription or upgrade fee later on if the car had the technical capability. BMW is looking at this as driver of revenue seemingly. I80 drive across Jersey to mother-in-law. Look ma: "no hands" Need to keep it mellow with wife in the car or hell to pay.

Only two of us in the Week 7 thread, including me, so no one really to talk to

The one thing I remember from the tour of the Munich plant was that every car they were painting that day was Alpine White, so they could batch features during production to an extent.

In terms of the chipset, I have a suspicion that only someone on the factory line would know.

I would have loved Euro Delivery. What a shame - M Car in the Autobahn or France and Italy. Love the French - didnt they tear down all the speed cameras in protest? Just got a speeding ticket from Orbetello, Italy in July. 150 Euro or so credit card I rented the car with is locked. Ha! Still I should pay. Car was covered in dust so I washed in one of those automated washes for 8 euro and forgot smudge the plates with mud after.

Crikey - its cold in here. Not many cars being built this week. Just moved to "Production Begins" with a VIN. No going back. Hopefully the port delay will clear up just enough for delivery after the temp stops dropping below 45. Mid to late April. It snowed in April the year of "Sandy" 4 inches in mid April. Early May is good too.

Was to talking to an Audi dealer and he had called his customers to say their cars had just hit the port in the States only to be stuck in customs in Rhode Island for weeks and weeks.

I am still 150 but with a build date of Feb 20 its got to start soon. I really dont want it before April. With my luck it will be on ship next Fri.

Maybe off topic but does the w/t ins cover cold weather damage to summer tires? I have never gotten w/t ins before but I did with the Genesis (was on sale) a coax cable punctured the sidewall last week. The Genesis valet dropped a loaner car in about 90 mins & as they did not have a tire in stock I got to put 500 miles on the loaner (with a higher trim then mine) which was picked up 4 days later when they dropped mine off. That alone was worth the $$. I know BMW does not do that but still so many potholes and construction by me @ $500 per tire whats the break even?

The only option I regret not getting was the external CF package, though I plan on correcting that shortly after delivery. Just have to decide on the bits and find an installer.

Expected completion date is 2/21. I’m a bit anxious for delivery, even though it’s still too cold to enjoy it with its summer shoes on. I plan on buying new wheels with either a/s or winters but not until fall.
