As I understand it, those comp wheels will not be available on the 6mt RWD...but i did make mention of a "pure" version and the guy played coy and acted like I knew more than him (since they haven't officially revealed a specific pure version). But i believe there are 3 wheel choices of which these are the comp pack upgrade. I would presume just like F80 there is a base wheel and an upgraded wheel, then comp gets these in the pictures.

Nothing on the fenders looked odd to me (someone asked about spacers) so i dont think that is something on the car to worry about. like i said, the side body lines liked dead on F80 to me.

To be honest I do like the gril design. The horizontal lines makes much more sence. Grill of the 4 series is still a design mistake in my eyes. Also very special, beautiful colors.

Good grief...could it be more obvious that the kidneys were a gigantic mistake? The hood is a nice surprise with the aft facing air vents (if that's what they are) and the rest of the M3 isn't too bad but it's a grab bag of ideas. The rectilinear diffuser elements aren't shared anywhere else on the car and the rear flares aren't as pronounced as the F80. Leaving flares off the M4 was a mistake as it looks like a bland and confused mess. This is a huge step backward in exterior design from the F80/82.

The front grill gives me an excuse to wait and hopefully they will facelift it for 2022 model. In the meantime, I hope there will be aftermarket bumper to fix the problem. Last resort will be Porsches or Caddy...

Well, it'll be sunny tomorrow during the official reveal,so we'll head out to the Datscha in Brandenburg, but then it'll start raining for days in Germany...

Must be the either the M3/M4 or the iD.4 presentation, I wonder which one the weather gods won't like

Some very obvious mistakes made here and well commented on above.

And you should never have to persuade/convince yourself to like the appearance of a any car. The cars technology and performance will take priority for some but you still to look at it!! For me that's a problem, order cancelled.

Beauty/aesthetics is very subjective and personal. Some folk on here should stop colliding over what is just pure n simple personal choice.

No one can barely agree on objective matters of the day, so what hope do we have over the front end of a car ? 🤨

Will be interesting to see if it’s optional or standard on the competition model.
I think the fact Lemetier had a hard time figuring out what it was hints at it not being standard, let's see. I think he mentioned it was a BMW Individual thing.

That ship has sailed with the G20. M GmbH is not going to design a whole new car from scratch, especially not the doors e.g.

The M3 the press drove in camo did not have them

We have no idea which press packet these photos leaked from.
Those are always on the euro cars lately... New LCI M5 had them in all the press pics but they didn't come here. Safe to say euro-only on those. I actually kind of like them.

Don't care what you all say, but I love the new front. Especially when doing a pic compare with F8x, which now looks dated to me. Just like when F80 came out and everyone was complaining about the old V8, this grill too shall pass. Could it be a bit better (like the Batmobile concept)? sure, but I think it will grow on people just fine. It looks angry, and I like that about my bimmers!

So I want one!

What do those extenders do? Is it to prevent rock chips? Seems like if they were thin enough, they could slice open your leg if you brush up across them hard enough haha. Maybe that's why they didn't come to the US since we love to sue everyone for anything?

It's to be compliant with an EU rule stating that the wheels and tyres have to be completely covered by the bodywork hence they stick those wheel arch spats on.

As for the cars, I can't get on board with the M3 and that grille it doesn't seem to gel at all, the M4 just about carries it off, maybe in black I could be tempted as I like everything else, but it'd have to be one hell of a deal like the one on the X3MC I currently have.

The consensus so far is the same across not just bimmerpost.. Facebook groups, Reddit and soon to be the bmw Instagram- I think disqualifying the negativity around this car as just a 1% is off

That said plenty of people will still purchase the car just based on the following

-interior
-tech
-awd
-manual sedan
-“new shiney” m3 to show off
-raw performance
-forged internals - better crank than s55

I think the car looks great except the front and looks a lot better than the f80 from the rear/side but I feel the right play here is to wait for LCI or the cs models when they’ve had an opportunity to refine the new look

I don’t have a horse in the race anyway, getting an m2 cs which I guess is still the old outgoing platform

Well I really disagree - your car was stunning the day they presented it and could be a poster on a young kids wall - this new garbage will never hang on any wall.

Keep yours mate. It's just gorgeous and the new might technical be better but the design is not beautiful at all

Fair point. I discount everything people say in any online platform because of how fashionable it is to hate on these grilles and how negative people are online in general (and espeically here, facebook and Reddit).

I think this will outsell any previous gen. In a way, I am happy I don't have the same revulsion to the car many of you share...because I am getting a 6MT and I would be getting this car even if I felt luke warm to the styling changes.

I appreciate your sentiment. Unfortunately, I don't even consider my CS a "car" as it's not 6MT. I never should have sold my prior F80 (in 6MT) and when my lease was up, I was 20k miles over, the F80 was 7 months out of production, and I had no choice but to turn it in or be upside down on the car.

Maybe you haven't heard that AMG's boss has confirmed the W206 C63 AMG will be powered by a 4 cylinder hybrid. It may perform extremely well, their new 4 cylinder M139 motor is incredible, but every single AMG owner I know primarily bought their AMG because of its sexy V8 noises. I work at a shop specializing in Mercedes and AMG vehicles so I meet a ton of AMG owners and 0% of them so far have been excited about the next C63.
