Here is my journey with the Main Bearing code STOP0221954. Might get lengthy, but hopefully provides additional insight into the issue.
Been religiously tracking my vehicle progress since day 1 and as of 10/9 my vehicle did not have ANY Stop Sale issues according to BMW Genius, my SA, and the vin number look up websites. I saw this thread on Saturday morning and looked up my VIN number immediately. Sure enough, I had the code STOP0221954 and ALSO 0061070600 (BDC). My vehicle arrived at the California port 10/6 and had a dealer delivery date of 10/13 (today). Obviously my car has a Stop Sale and it is still stuck at the VPC. The main point about all this is, I checked my Vin number again today and i no longer show the Main Bearing code STOP0221954 only the BDC code. Any else seeing this? Could this be good news or did this just add more uncertainty to the mix? My SA has also been saying from the start that my vehicle was not affected by the bearing issue but i have screen shots from the bmw recall tool website and the BMW UK website (not working for me anymore) showing the bearing issue code. My SA did also finally confirmed i have a Stop Sale but said its not for the bearing rather for the stereo. |

Chava777, in my opinion your production date is before Sept 23th, if it's the case you should be concerned by the main bearing shell recall. Really sorry for that.

Yeah, I am aware my vehicle production date falls in the time frame. i guess the point Im trying to make is that when i searched my VIN since 10/9 on a daily basis it showed a Bearing Stop Sale, i check today and its gone. Did it get resolved? is the website not accurate anymore? magically just disappeared?

Nice to see the tool back up. I checked it, earlier and it had the RAM code and VIN status said Closed, but had no narrative, so, I thought for a second that it was closed, or on the way.
Now the tool is up with the narrative and now the VIN status says open.

Warning to all who is using my tool:
Looks like BMW purposely removed STOP021954 code from any API responses. I will wait a couple of days before trying to reach out to them and see what is behind the decision to do that. P.S. UK tool does not work for US-based customers based on what I saw in the last 24 hours (just IP block). My tool using API that UK website is using so my tool will show all codes from UK website + known descriptions. Last edited by Alex_Bond; 10-13-2021 at 11:10 PM.. |

Been watching this thread closely since the weekend. Thanks Alex for the recall lookup - cheers.
My G80 Comp xDrive (which was ordered in March this year by the way) arrived in Aus yesterday. Production date was 30 July 21. Its currently at the port waiting transport to the dealership. Ran the recall check on the UK site prior to the API being taken off-line, and the dreaded STOP021954 was there. Passed this info on to my blissfully unaware dealer on Monday, to which they replied the next day that they have “asked BMW for clarification of the issue, and its rectification, as a matter of urgency and they will report back to me as soon as we have accurate information”. Fair enough. In the meantime, from what I understand (as a mechanical engineer) a fix is likely not a big deal as it’s a relatively simple low-risk changeout procedure. And I am comforted by the thought that there is no way that BMW will risk trashing the reputation of their halo model. So, I’m going to chill out, relax, grab some more popcorn and watch for more comments on this thread. And hope that I can get my hands on this awesome machine sooner rather than later. It’s been a long 8 months and counting… _____________________ 2022 M3 G80 Comp xDrive Frozen Dark Grey (Landed, at port) 2021 X5M F95 Comp Tanzanite Blue II 2015 X6M F86 Carbon Black (For sale) 2016 X5M50d F15 Glacier Silver (Sold) 2011 1 Series M Coupe E82 LCI Alpine White (Sold) 2010 135i E82 Sport Sedona Red (Sold) 2008 X5 30sd E70 Alpine White (Sold) |

My car is effected by the recall. I'm selling it now. So disappointed. I don't trust a tech to take apart a brand new engine. And once that repair shows up in carfax the value is going to tank. This is horrible news!

BMW hasn't even come out with an official news release about it, yet. That's like you contracting Covid, and then , so you don't have a chance of infecting anyone else. It's a bit much.

Woah. Take a step back from the ledge. There hasn’t even been anything official from BMW. Sheesh.

Values are not going to tank as soon as that info is out. People who are active in the forum is a very small percentage when compared to the actual owners and most of them might not be even aware of this issue. |

My GM at the store I purchased from called yesterday regarding my X4M. He's good friends with me so this is what was discussed.
BMW states these cars are drivable for those affected. If you haven't taken delivery of the vehicle by a dealerships perspective (RDR = reporting a vehicle), and have the deal funded via BMWFS or whomever, then your vehicle can not be sold. I was offered a concession via BMW for 4 months to be paid for the car. However, I feel for that given tHe situation it's hard to "enjoy" the car inevitably knowing that it will have to eventually go back to get the main bearings replaced, or the engine. If they offered a supplementary warranty maybe I could warm up to the idea. However, 13 miles on the clock — doesn't sit right. So my dealership will let me know if we switch gears to maybe ordering an x6m instead. Kinda bummed as there was product installed on the car and I order an exhaust and parts only for literally a day after the bulletin to appear. Crappy timing. I'm also bummed because I ordered a couple of parts from a vendor on here and now will be charged $1000+ for a 20% restocking fee on parts that are still in the box. So it's been "fun" rollercoaster this go around

My car (or the dealer's car)
So, I picked up my 2022 M4 Comp on October 9th around noon. I went in yesterday to thank my sales guy and ask a simple question to which he said... :There is a stop sale/delivery on your car so you cant leave here with it".
After he told me what it was for, I said, But you delivered it like 4 days ago. I'm not leaving it until I hear from BMW. Manager agreed and said they would contact me once they had more information. The dealership actually got the Stop Delivery the day before on the 8th, but nobody read it so BMW wont release the funds to them and complete the sale. So now it is sitting in my driveway and me not knowing if I should be driving it or not, should I demand to return it or not or if Im even affected or not. The car does fall into the build date frame for the issue. This sure out a serious damper on my excitement for a car I waited 10 months for.
