iDrive 8 Screen rattle
Hi!
Just got my G80 on friday and have been busy putting miles on. I noticed a rattle coming from the lower far right edge of the screen that disappears when pushed behind on the back cover. Anybody experienced the same/ has a fix? Thanks Chris |

I'm having the same issue but on the Driver side left of the ID8 screen so nearest to the driver window.
It stops when I apply light pressure on it in any direction. I'm hoping a small felt "shim" behind it will resolve it if not I might have to make BMW hunt down the rattle. |

Same issue for me. I picked up my car on 10/27 and everything was nice and quiet. Starting hearing the rattling a couple days ago (tends to only happen on rougher roads at speed).
I’m able to stop the noise by applying downward pressure on the top of the screen. I’ll probably ask the dealership to take a look when I bring it in for the break-in service soon. |

Thanks guys so I am not the only one, thought it would be in my head. I stacked a bunch of small felt pads together (like 4mm diameter) and squeezed it behind the sreen. I wont see it and passenger likely wont either. I will bring it up when I go for the break in service, I wonder how they would fix it though as it seems to be the screen housing thats not assembled properly

Rattle may be coming from the center speaker grill, known issue.

As an update, the fix seems to have worked. Been on terrible roads in WA and OR today and the screen was quiet. What wasnt quiet though was the camera housing on the windscreen...

My screen rattle is gone though, only thing remaining is the camera housing. The rattle stops when I push it so fairly certain its the plastic housing around the camera |

Same issue
Sorry for reviving this thread but it has been a disappointing day for me.
I recently got my hand on a 23' G80, its a dealer demo car with just 3000 km. During the first day of my ownership, rattling noise starts coming out from left side of the screen as soon as the car reaches 30km/h. The noise was so loud and as other members have mentioned, applying light pressure on the screen make the noise disappear. Heres my current solution... |

I wonder how you convinced them about the noise? And for the fix, where did they put the felt tape? Wonder if I can just do that myself. Appreciate your help~ |

They just put some between the dash and the back of the screen down in the crevice. If you want, you can put some of this collapsible weather stripping there as a temp fix, that was good enough for me until I took it into the dealer. |
