Obsessed Garage G80 M3 First Drive
Not intended to be a structured review but rather his first drive thoughts as a self-proclaimed m3 lover. He owns currently 991.2 GT3 RS, 718 GT4, E92 M3, E36 M3, and owned previously F80 M3, F10 M5, GT350.
Opinions are obviously his own but having watched many of his videos I am quite positive that he never felt obliged to like anything. In that sense, I find this video some valuable information. Below is a text summary I made as I went through the video, quoting his own words where I can. It's in chronological order and since it wasn't a structured review so it may read all over the places. - Overall he likes it more than the F80 - The car feels (dimensionally) huge, didn't mention the weight the entire video so take it for whatever it's worth - Carbon seats are amazing, tricky to get in and out but he wouldn't order without one - Likes the driving experience a lot more than the F80 - Feeling a bit of (turbo?) lag but uncertain whether it is associated with pre-running-in car and/or his below-5000rpm conservative driving - A Flatter torque curve makes the power delivery a lot linear - A refined F80 with a pig nose - Manual shifts like the F80 - Brake feels better than the F80, it's responsive and much like a GT350's - E36, E46 and E92 may be about the pure driving experience but this car is pure fast - Feel like there is a little bit of soul back (comparing to the F80), minus the grille - Sounds a lot better than the F80, the OE exhaust doesn't sound good but at least doesn't sound god awful, there is no farting - Not totally on board with it but can see himself buying one if they fix the nose - Almost bought one last week but decided he would prioritise an E46 and has too many cars at the moment regardless. - (the exterior has) Too much going on, too much try hard like the civic type R - It's super confidence-inspiring to drive this thing - Repetitively mentions the effortlessness of the torque delivery throughout the video. - Wouldn't mind leaving the exhaust as is, but with (aftermarket) downpipes it's going to sound way cooler - Don't think I'm buying one but you know me (probably gonna decide to buy one tomorrow morning) |

Good vid. Always like how picky and technical Matt's videos are.
Exhaust sounds great for what his recording setup was. Yup, laggy feel most likely due to observing break-in RPM. |

Had a chance to drive Sean’s car as well. Agree with the general takeaway’s. This car is fast and having owned an f80 this just feels more special. Interior, buckets, manual and quality. Really enjoyed the short time I had with the car and patiently waiting to take delivery of mine in a week

He's a whiner. Never particularly valued his opinion on cars. After all, he likes the Tesla Model 3 and hated his F80. He "dialed in" his 1M the same way he destroyed his S2K and Civic.

I'm not one of them, but it's still a valid opinion. |

Well i stopped when reading this : - Sounds a lot better than the F80, the OE exhaust doesn't sound good but at least doesn't sound god awful, there is no farting
Sound better ? i own a F83, i tried the G82, i made the test one side by side and make rev . The G82 sound is like 10 times worst then my F83. Anyway in europe. With the new policy for sound&CO2, the new sound of the G8x is really worst then previous version. Not sure you have the same issue in the US though. |

Followed his channel way before Obsessed Garage became his business and I genuinely liked his channel when he was a guy with another job and just making videos on the side. His videos introduced me to some great detailing prodcuts I still use today.
At some point he became tough to watch. A little too full of himself and frankly pretty arrogant. His Facebook group also has some of the biggest a** kissers I have seen. It's amazing how much his word and what he does is like gospel for so many people on there. I had to get off of there. It's not like he is some renowned detailer. Good for him though, he has built quite a business. His devout followers will buy anything he sells or says is legit. He can turn and pivot on a dime with any product he touts and the sheep will buy the new one without fail.
