VTT G80 M3 Competition Dyno 481WHP

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Dynoed the VTT G80 M3C. It's definitely underrated. Depending on the correction factor or lack thereof showing between 455-481WHP/445-467WTQ, which is about 523.25-553.15 to the crank. So between 13-43hp underrated depending on if you want to run SAE, STD, or Uncorrected. The Factory almost certainly rates it SAE so it's not too far off there. If you go uncorrected it's quite a bit underrated. Take it as you will...

Nice! Really wish I had a G80 about now, can't wait to see what it puts down with some VTT touches.

I know one cannot directly compare different dynos on different days and areas with different weather locations, but comparing this M3C dyno to Autocouture's M4 base 6MT dyno gives me hope that these cars have very similar power levels rather than the 30 hp and 73 lb/ft of torque disadvantage officially listed by BMW.

You know I was wondering about the differences in output between comp and base model. Is it simply a tune difference? And therefor one could assume the base model can be brought up to comp-level performance?

Thanks for sharing! It's very exciting to be in on the ground floor of a new model of M3.

The standard M3 runs a max of 18.9 psi compared to 24.7 psi in the Competition

Definitely enough power to take advantage of an AWD system (although I hear the G80 isn't quite as traction-challenged as the F80). As much as I hate the grill here, once the AWD car hits, the perfomance is going to be AWESOME at this pricepoint.

OEM rating (Axle output) is without added correction factor (TMAP logic = DME Compensation for Atmospheric Contiditions).

IND's M4 non-comp put down roughly the same power, no?

Chris, do you guys have F8X dyno numbers from that specific dyno? Wondering what the delta is.

not really sure how that dyno can be accurate without sufficient blower in the front...

has anyone with a bFlash datalogged this car during a run? I'm still breaking in my M4, so it's coming, just not possible yet.

Ps. How did you guys break in a car in 4 days and did 2000km & had the break-in service lol...

Appreciate posting this!

I'm afraid until we see dyno runs on the same dyno & under the same conditions of G8x vs. F8x I don't think we can draw any conclusions.

Seems to have a similar curve to the F80 but shifted 50 more ft lbs of torque across the band.

We had a long debate on dyno numbers back when the F8x was launched.

Some of us pointed out exactly what you are saying here, I even referenced the relevant stds (SAE and EU) which regulates that for vehicles where the engine management compensates for atmospheric conditions, no correction factor shall be applied.

Using CF in these cases would constitute somewhat of a «double dipping» of corrections.
