PB looks awesome in the shade but I'm not a big fan of it on sunny days, just looks too light.

G80 M3C Portimao Blue . . . Part V

G80 M3C Portimao Blue . . . Part V

Mid-morning, sunny . . .

Parts I-V cover most of the natural (outdoor) lighting conditions and various times of day to demonstrate spectrum of hues associated with Portimao Blue.

Indoor (showroom) lighting hues shown elsewhere . . . but who drives indoors?

More natural light (more sun) ---> more blue hue
Less natural light (less sun) ---> more purple hue

I appreciate these photos. PB is now my color of choice. I saw IOMG today (overcast weather) and wasn't as impressed.

Thanks for all the pics! I'm more confident now that I'll go with PB unless BMW surprise me with some other color that I love when they launch the M xDrive!

G80 M3C Portimao Blue . . . Part VI (Spacers)

Indoor, dealership . . .

Did not intend to provide indoor lighting pics, but just got spacers placed and took some pics while at dealership after spacer install.

Thanks again for the pics...I think I am sold on PB.

Would love to see any owners that have PB with the orbit grey wheels... actually found one in stock at a dealer in SoCal but website pics are few, small and grainy.

Do spacers affect wheel geometry/alignment in any way?

This color remains a mystery to me. When I see the pics on here I want it/gotta have it. But, then I see it in person (on a G20) and it looks so much less deep and vibrant. I'm sure it's all lighting conditions, but still perplexing.

It's a very good BMW blue a more vibrant Monte Carlo Blue, it's just not next level amazing like Marina Bay or San Marino.

PB looks much better in pictures than in reality. Weird. Been on the fence between this and TB.

I think may have something to do with the lighting conditions and treatment of the paint. I've seen PB look terrible and great in person on the same model 4 series model on different days. One of them was a paint swirl mess with pollen all over it while the other looked like a freshly hand by hand under a bright partly cloudy sky. The color looked great when it was clean and had no swirls. I also think very similarly of TB in person. Sometimes it looks great and other times I think it looks terrible.

I've also pulled up next to a rather dirty San Marino M3 CS on an overcast gloomy day and thought it looked pretty rough where most will agree it not only looks good in photos but great in person.

I'm still leaning to ordering PB with Brooklyn Grey as my alternate/backup option. I can't justify getting an individual color this time so I'm hoping I get a good chance to see PB on a G80 before my order... otherwise I'm going to have to take the chance that it is just particular conditions that can make it look bad or I'm finally getting a non-blue car for the first time in many years.

I'm almost set on ordering a Portimao Blue G80. I've seen the color many times on the 3 & 4 series but more importantly I've seen it on the G80 M3, and every time the car was clean it looked great under different conditions. But it really looked best on the G80 under showroom lights.

I know I'll keep my G80 clean as it'll be ceramic coated and not driven in the rain at least during it's first few years... So Portimao Blue should work for me. I would've loved Marina Bay Blue but an extra $4k+ is not justified for me.

Yeah same for me. Wife has hard denied a "bright" blue though. I would consider making it a bad surprise on delivery but at $90k build, you can't really piss off the wife.

I just wish PB looked as good in person to my eyes as it does in pics. If it did, it would be a no brainer for me.

If I see one in person and have to have it then yeah I would man up and cash in some points. I'd have to REALLY want it though.

Hahaha, same here, wife doesn't like blue cars, finds them childish. I'm not upset about it cause I like grey colors just a little bit more so we settled for Oxide.. She was pushing for Brooklyn witch I find a lot more "boy-racer" :

aaaahh woman, sometimes it's not worth trying to understand hehe.
