So. The dealer found an issue with the driver strut mount. Replaced but it didn't solve the problem entirely. I still have a slight knock / subtle loose feeling in the steering wheel going over irregular surfaces. Highway & low speed. My car does fit into the SIB but they didnt find an issue with either tierod assembly. Suggestions? The dealer is 3hrs away and I really don't have the patience for this anymore.

I have the exact same symptoms. Are you lowered? I might have to revert back to stock springs before taking it back in.

Did they mention what the issue was with the strut mount?

Not lowered. I didn't ask about the issue with the strut mount because I wasn't surprised it's bad. Driving in New England destroys strut mounts, all of my cars in the past five years have had at least one go bad. They'll probably tell you that they can't diag if your lowered but every dealer differs. I remember I had steering issues on my f80 and the dealer sent me away saying they could diag it on oem winter tires, so I had to drive it to them on summers in the middle of the winter... Almost totaled the car a few times. Point of the story is, go talk to them before reverting back to stock. Since there is a SIB, they might be more lenient.

What’s the next step for you? Just drive on it?

Throw it away and get a new one.

Yea for now, just gonna drive on it. The only dealer worth a damn is 2hrs away from me so I need to figure what exactly I want to happen before I go back. After doing further research seems like it could just be an G8x thing.

If it does actually get the dakar treatment i'm hoping to pull, none of this will matter

Car went in yesterday morning. Still waiting. The longer i wait the more i feel like something more is going on. I will say that when the tie rods were replaced the click got more prominent and frequent. The car handles much worse akin to a wet noodle. Hopefully these issues are fixed and i’m back to normal because I am really considering jumping ship earlier than I had expected.

Side note, the mechanic secretary told me if i had modified the suspension prior to this all repairs would have been denied. Nice.

They replaced both tie-rod assemblies and the clicking continued. Struts were ordered and Tues the car went in. Mind you I never spoke to the service tech and all of the information I got came from the service secretary.

I picked it up today and this is what they did:

"Installed 31206866022 :B1BIMIRR-Collar screw with spr Qty: 2
REPLACED BOTH FRONT STRUT MOUNTS. ALL GOOD AT
THIS TIME
991 perform 4 wheel alignment"

So informative right? Looks like they replaced both strut mounts (3)

and both front axle bolts (10)

Car seems more sure footed and the clicking bullshit has completely disappeared.

I asked the secretary if they have seen this issue before and he stated that there have been a few with the same problem.

You were stock right? Looks like I’ll be changing out to my stock springs and bringing it in

I am 100 percent stock. Maybe your dealer will be more mod friendly. The one i went to is a pain in the ass for that. Which makes zero sense for small things like wheel spacers. etc.

Took my 22 xdrive in for the same kind of popping and creaking sound. They have ordered the strut mounts as their first part to replace. We will see how it goes.

Picked it up today, and I'm pretty sure I heard the pop again coming into the driveway. Going to give it another day or two for final judgement.

I have a clicking sound when turning the wheel either direction while stationary, like parking for example. When I try maneuvering to back into my garage it definitely clicks but haven’t brought it up to my advisor. I’m due for oil within 30 days so we will see what I do

Yes it is totally fixed. I updated my post a few lines up. Not sure which was the actual issue or if it was both. Car is 100% now

Mine is back in the shop today to diagnose the creaking and popping again. New strut mounts didn't help at all.

Today's diagnosis is replacing the driver's side strut. Will get it back next week and we will see if they fixed it this time.
