CCB compound changed?
I have owned a 2015 and 2021 M3, both with CCB and the braking feels similar when it’s cold and wet with less bite or no bite at all when it’s wet or after a car wash.
With my new 2024 M3cs, I never had any braking issues when it’s wet after a car wash or rain. I do also notice low temperature stopping have been improved as well. Did BMW change the compound on the pads for CCB? I know Porsche did change the compound for their PCCB’s around 2022 which are also manufactured by Brembo. |

It’s called Disc Wiping. It’s part of the ESP programming and originally was used under wet conditions where the ESP module will pulse and ride the pads at certain intervals to keep the pads and discs clear of water. Bosch introduced it with version 8.0 quite a few years back.

F8x has Disc Wiping. It’s possible CCB rotor friction surface treatment and pad compound may have changed between F8x and G8x. I haven’t read there’s been a change in the friction layer (cracked surface) on BMW CCBs. Pad compound change is definitely a possibility. You should give the Pagid RSC1 pads a try if you haven’t already.

I don’t think it’s the disc wiping function because with my previous cars with CCB, right after a car wash or if I hose down the wheels, there would be no stopping power at all. There’s not enough distance driven after the wash for the disc wipe.
