Lowering springs for front only, is it unwise?

Car is G80 M3 Competition
I only have a gripe with the front fender gap, as the rear rims are 20”. Also, I haven’t seen how deep the wheels stick in, so if I wanted spacers, what setup would you recommend?

Yes. It will affect the balance of the car. A friend of our from our track club did that and it was so off balance on the track. Went back right after. Probably a more extreme case, but still makes the same point. Do all or none, but don't mix it. It causes suspension difference between front and back

Is question whether you can just change front springs??

Pretty sure the Eibach pro kit for G80 is front springs only.

On spacers - most do 12 all around for 12 in back and 15 in front.

Yeah, you got my question right. So if an Eibach pro kit is front springs only, I’d assume it’s ok considering I don’t track it except maybe once a year? M Powers here get to drive around the Jeddah F1 Formula track once a year, which I wouldn’t want to miss.

What it I do spacers for front only, to match it with the rear wheels which already have good protrusion?

I've got a G82 - four spring kit and am very happy w/ it. From what I've read - I think the front spring kit on a G80 (eibach) is pretty well liked by those installing. I think a little bit of track time would be okay too.

Spacers - if your wheels are stock, somewhere around 12-15 range/front is what gets most people pretty flush w/ fender. But you may have to experiment there.

That’s good to hear. So my concern of using spacers and lowering springs on front wheels exclusively is generally a nonissue?

In my opinion fine - good quality springs and spacers.

With the Eibach fronts only, you’ll be fine. Many people running this setup if you search the forum.

Yeah I looked, they all claim it to run well but I stumbled on someone claiming he’d sold his because it didn’t fit on his xDrive. Mine is xDrive.

Fits xDrive fine

On the road just front springs are perfectly acceptable. Would the BMW M test driver be slower on a ring lap with just front springs? Maybe but I’d not be near that time in a million years and it’s not how I’d be driving the car.

I have the H&R Sport kit but installed fronts only. No issues. I don't track so I can't speak on that. I do rub quite a bit but that's due to a combination of the drop, 15mm spacers, and square 826M's.

You'll stumble all over stuff in these forums.

There is a good video (for x-drive) somewhere from the guys in Raleigh, NC about putting in front springs without a full front suspension disassembly - in short, you put the car on stands, jack up the front suspension/a-arm on one side and remove strut nut and top mount - then slide the top coil off the spring over the strut shaft and then basically screw the coil off of the strut. It makes it MUCH easier. Do a search. FYI - hope that helps.
