Wife's first reaction to the grilles
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Her: WTF is up with those nostrils?!?! Me: You'll get used to it. Her: Me: It drives beautiful, that's all that matters. I told her it's not that bad in person, hopefully she warms up to it. What have been the reaction of your significant others? And did it eventually grow on them? |

When my wife and me saw at the dealership. she's in love with it and told me to get it right away. So, my wife have great taste in car. We have G82 now for 3 weeks and love it.

I honestly can't tell if my SO likes the car overall. But, he really disliked riding in the M2C and wasn't good at hiding it, so it's an improvement so far. He does like the grill, though, and says some unflattering things about folk who are all up in arms about it.

My wife liked the grille- says its aggressive. Not a shock since she likes her Lexus waterfall grille. And she loves IOMG/Tartufo- didn't quite like the orange interior (I was fine with it but saw Tartufo IRL and liked the look better).

I was actually surprised my wife likes IOMG as well. She saw the Tanz on KO and she likes it as well... but all the greys are out and so is speed yellow (sad on that one)

Interestingly though she likes the G80/82 front. M designers pulled that one out of the bag it seems. |

Grill is ugly (she hasn't seen it in person), IOMG belongs in the 90s and not on a car we'll own, KO interior is way obnoxious, great that it can be had in AWD, carbon fiber parts are pretty but those seat bolsters are #toomuch.

My wife is NOT a sports car / performance car person as she likes SUVs & crossovers. I took her to see the G80/G82 in person and I can tell she liked them more than other BMWs I showed her in the past such as F30, F80 & G20, which all look the same according to her. It was actually the first time she showed some interest in checking out the car with me instead of walking away to look at the X5, X6, etc.
I think the new design makes it interesting & exciting to her so she's not complaining that I'm getting just another BMW

My 21 year old daughter and I have seen 2 G80s on the road, one BG and the other IOMG. She loved them, saying "it looks good, really aggressive, its the first BMW I have ever really liked." It made me think that BMW may actually know what it is doing with this design . . .

Obviously to a car enthusiast we can see quad tips, fender flares and all the little aggressive touches but I think one of the reasons bmw did the massive grills is because to the average looker it looks like a totally different car. Regular well off guys and girls (more of these than actual people who know why an M is an M) who buy cars to flex and don't know much who can afford an f80 probably stuck to m sport f30's because it wouldn't mean much, maybe would rather just get a 5 or 8 series cause it sounds more expensive. But now, with these grills regular people have a reason to buy it, the most expensive variant of the 3 series looks totally different than a typical bmw. Even the rear diffuser coming super aggressive out of the factory on every car probably was done with this same intention. BMW's goal is to sell as many of these that they can, obviously, and kind of pissed off enthusiasts to do so. Thank god they kept a manual though lol. Literally a week doesn't go by where we drive past an f3x and someone I know sitting in my car doesn't say "hey look it's the same car as yours". Keep in mind I have a Vorsteiner diffuser and m performance carbon all over my car (front lip, spoiler, splitters) it's basically as aggressive as you can make an OEM car look. |

Got my wife to agree me ordering the G80 and beyond that she's taken very little interest in it. Not even sure she's seen a recent picture and she definitely hasn't got a clue as to what color combo I've ordered. She doesn't really care much about cars nor really car what my car is, especially now that she has the "family/road trip" vehicle between the two of us.

I think my wife's reaction was excessive because I initially had put a deposit down for a Cayman GTS 4.0, which she thought was beautiful. The M4 is definitely on the opposite end of the design spectrum compared to that car.

first post reply - my wife hates it
but I explained she wouldn't see it when driving it or getting out at home since we reverse park into our garage.
The g80 m3 is the first BMW since the F10 that I am excited about. g30 is too big for my taste. |

My Mrs. calls it the "beaver tooth car" every time she sees me checking out reviews or photos.

My wife initially thought yuk...when she saw the car after I took delivery of it three weeks ago and she saw it in person, she said it looks much better in person than the pictures she had seen.
