Anyone else have a problem with the valves working after install? The spring is in and the shop is saying it has to be "timed" a certain way.

I have never heard of that.

Did they install the spring correctly? When installing you need to have the valves open so it can line up properly.

I never heard of that either that's why I was confused but anyway they fixed it probably installed it wrong at first

I guess I didn't know what angle/angle meant before I said yes (didn't want to wait any longer)... so put preference aside, what it is designed for or meant for - logo centered or logo tilted?

So today was install day for the AA catted X-pipe and Remus race axle back … O M G. I was expecting to love it - but the actual results are all that and then some!

Deeper than a twin-turbo 3L 6 has ANY right to sound. Loud, but in comfort mode it’s not obnoxious (after cold start settles down - which, in any mode, is rather epic, even outside in an open parking lot). In a garage, cold start shakes the building. And even blipping revs to 1,500 shakes everything. In a fantastic way.

Everyone who heard it today was blown away.

Videos don’t even CLOSE to do this system justice. Epic.

Thank you for the above-and-beyond customer service and the fantastic deal, Mike!!!!

The angled/angled are angle cut (like the posted pics) where the top with the R logo is farther out than the bottom. But they are also angle cut sideways, where the inner part of the tip is farther out than the outer part of the tip. So essentially a diagonal angle cut (sort of), instead of a vertical one.

can you post a picture of your angled carbon tip installed on your vehicle? I have the same installed by my mechanic but somehow doesn't quite look right as it seemed tips are out further than what they should be. I may be wrong but wanted to see how others have their tip installed. thanks in advance.

I will try to get a good pic. In the mean time, I can tell you that my tech installed them as far in toward the bumper/muffler as possible (said that anything further out looked silly), and in the end even though the “R” logo being top center is technically correct for the angled/angled tips, he installed them slightly rotated to make them more like the regular “angled” … and they look great!

I think I'm running into the same issue.
found out after installing VSC-2, that neither open nor close is not working at all.

You mentioned spring needs to be put in while the valve is open, but how do you keep the valve open manually? please advise. thank you.

Take VSC-2 out of the equation for now. Get the springs in first.

You'll have to start the car up and make sure everything is in sports+ mode to align the valve controller with the springs.

You can try to do it with the engine off and see if the valve controller turns when in sports+ mode. If not then start up the car and then do it. I did it while the car was running.

So one quick minor negative. From about 2,000 to 2,300 or so under load, DRONE. And it’s NOT subtle. With windows down, it makes you shift quickly.

In my 6MT, on the highway, you can easily adjust speed (and/or gear) to get away from it. So far, with about 100 miles since install, I can still live with it and it’s not cutting into my grin

Thank you!
The whole afternoon inspecting what the issue was and found out that on the left side, the spring was not installed correctly on the left side. I got it reinstalled, and now I can see how loud this is.. I LOVE IT

However, I did not stop there and went on to install VCS-2, but when I started the car, CEL came on and said that the drivetrain malfunctioned. I got terrified and took it right off. CEL stayed on, but no issue was found on the Idrive. said everything was ok.

now in trying to figure out how to delete CEL light. very disturbing keke.

Maybe the catted with touring vs race REMUS axle would have done the trick on drone? I like this setup as well, if AWE doesn't deliver I will end up with AA Catted X and touring Remus.

I wouldn't want to risk it being quieter than I wanted. I realize I can't have it both ways...loud exhaust, and zero drone under all conditions. I don't think the drone will end up being too much to keep living with the exhaust (it's only in a pretty narrow rev range, although I wish it were a bit higher up than the low 2,000s), but after an hour of driving the car with the windows down, your ears definitely feel it...

At least it saves money on doing audio mods (which would now be rather pointless!)

Definitely happy I did the catted X. Pretty much no rasp, and very, very deep tone. Surprisingly so.

Sorry, I don't. When I have tried to capture it, the videos end up sounding nothing like real life. Not even close enough to be worth it.
