Which Individual Grey: Lime Rock, Grigio Telesto, Chalk, Etc.?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I’ve been struggling with which individual grey to go with for my order. I am going with Kyalami Orange full leather interior with the carbon seats to give it some uniqueness inside. I am also going with the 826M bi-color wheels likely with black calipers although I like blue too (not a fan of the color red - personal preference).

With that said, which would you choose?

- Lime Rock Grey
- Grigio Telesto Pearl
- Chalk
- Fashion Grey
- Nardo
- Grey Black

Thanks for the feedback.

Grey Black for me! Such an awesome color. I find these types of greys are better without metallic flake.

All great colors, but I think Grey Black is one we don't see too often. Such a wicked color.

Telesto or grey black no doubt.

I think I would personally go with Telesto because it is metallic and I think grey black is uni

lime rock grey. Saw it in person on a M4cs and couldn't take my eyes off of it. It's one of those colors that makes an impact.

GTP or FG would be my personal preference, but dont think you can go wrong with any of them. Id try to decide if you want a metallic or uni paint and then go from there.

Thanks, guys. Good feedback so far. I tend to gravitate towards lighter colors, but since our other cars are pearl white I was leaning towards a light grey like LRG or GT. Having said that, grey black is very intriguing and would be the most different/darker from what I have and am used to. Would it be a lot more difficult to keep clean (since it’s closest to black so to speak)? I think KO will go well with any of these.

I wouldn't call Grigio Telesto a light grey. It's several shades darker than Lime Rock and looks almost charcoal/black in the dark.

Interesting. I thought they were fairly close. I wonder if lime rock is more similar to nardo then, although nardo doesn’t have metallic in it. And I know GT has pearl in it but how does that compare to “metallic” like in lime rock?

I would say Nardo grey is closer to Lime Rock. Never seen the metallic in lime rock up close but in Grigio Telesto the pearl is a blue and purple flake color. Gives the grey a cool base tone (unlike Dravit where the gold gives it a warm/brown base tone). The pearl effect in Grigio Telesto is very unique compared to a flat grey like Nardo.

Just my thoughts, you may want other opinions on this too.

Here’s a pic of my Lime Rock Grey 50 Jahre Edition G80 next to a Nardo Grey Audi TTRS for comparison- taken Saturday 2/4 at the local Cars & Coffee event…

The Lime Rock Grey has a very slight greenish undertone that I really like, and a subtle metallic flake that’s only really visible in direct sunlight. Nardo is non-metallic.

I get lots of compliments on the car and color.

Nice ride … both look great. In fact, I love LRG and feel like I tend to lean towards exterior colors that have some metallic/pearl flakes. GT and LRG will give me that and, while chalk will not, I just can’t write off chalk for some reason. I think for me the grey black may be too dark.

That description of GT makes me like it even more. It’ll differentiate it some from dravit. Think I’m between it, LRG, and chalk. Chalk would seem to be the most different out of those three.

If you want a metallic/pearl finish and you prefer lighter greys then its probably Lime Rock for you.

Good thread showing both GTP and Lime Rock side by side.

Saw that. Both look great. I love chalk too. There’s a 4k YT video of a chalk M3 and it looks fantastic.

I don't know where you are in your order process but if you are paying this much for individual paint you may want to splurge and get IND to paint you some speed shape samples if you've never seen these in person and are picky about color.

I was convinced i loved dravit and had it on my order until I saw a dravit 8 series at the dealer in the sun. IND painted me a speed shape in GTP and i fell in love. Took a lot of the anxiety out of the process.

Lime Rock is much more interesting and dynamic than Grigio Telesto. I would suggest Ferrari Grigio Medio instead of Telesto for something more unique. Telesto looks like Dravit in a lot of lighting conditions. I think BMW also paints "Ferrari Silver" which is the same as Grigio Titanio, more similar to the E46 M3 Silver Grey A08.
