Front Reflectors - Anyone Change Yet?

Anyone change out the front amber reflectors yet? I just got a set in from IND.

Was wondering how they are to change on the G80. On my X3 I had to remove some plastic rivets and pull back the wheel well liner to get access.

Idk. Not loving the OEM orange ones but also not loving the color match. From afar it looks good but I hate seeing those lines around the color match ones. Any plans for carbon fiber version or even just a smoked out/darker version of the orange? Thanks

I did this 10 dollar mod--- gloss vinyl matches the lower fascia parts:

Nice. How did you do that? Cut the vinyl with a blade?

I just took the vinyl wrap and cut a piece that was larger than the reflector, applied it and made sure it adhered- then used a blade towards to reflector to not hit the paint.

A tinted film may also be an option to give the reflector a dark smoked look

So did you use a heat gun? Would it come off w/o first apply the heat to the glue?

I used a heat gun, I wouldn't try to do it without heating up the adhesive first.

A hairdryer would work also.

+1. Used a hair dryer when I did the ones on my G01 X3 and it worked just fine. Just need some kind of heat source that you can use to begin to break down the adhesive. Most important thing is to ensure you don't just let the heat source sit in any one spot for too long otherwise you'll risk damaging the paint.

Take your time when removing the reflectors. If you can find the sweet spot of temperature, you can take off the adhesive without leaving anything behind inside the bumper.

If you have a black car then use limo tint, 2 layers, or get the reflectors from IND.

Any other color then leave orange or get a set painted by IND. Black reflectors (vinyl, tint etc) on a car that's not black is super tacky IMO.

I got a set of Frozen Dark Grey reflectors from them & installed, was sort of rough just because of the residue left, but I did my best and installed them. Big upgrade over the orange.

Hi rogurat, any concern or issue with the frozen paint thus far? And if you can post some pictures with your car and the reflectors would be awesome! Thanks.

I can post some photos for you today, car is at a detail!

No concerns with the paint at all if you are referring the the complete car, because I have XPEL Stealth on everything to help protect. As for the little reflector pieces who are currently UNCOVERED by XPEL, we shall see... Might get a little wrap thing for them, but they are ceramic'd.

I got mine from IND ( BG) the match was great and install took about 12 minutes total. The glue came off in one piece, heck I could have reused it if I had wanted.

Looks great.

For those that installed the IND painted reflectors, did it come with the adhesive on the painted reflectors? Mine do not have adhesive on the back of the painted reflectors to help them bond to the fender. The installation photos show a piece of plastic cover that you peel off to expose adhesive. Neither of mine have this adhesive.

Do these click into place without adhesive? Did yours come with the adhesive on the back of the painted reflectors?
