Ok, it seems like I really need to try it for myself to see if the bucket seats are for me... I called a couple dealerships they don't have any with bucket or coming in soon... any one lives in the north NJ area has the bucket seats that willing to let me try it out?

Also, ones with the silverstone bucket, since you would probably rub the bolster every time you go in and out, would dark jeans leave a mark on the bolster? Or, the hardware on the jeans i.e. the back pocket studs, scratch the bolster?

In the Corvettes, I plopped in butt first and just lifted up to get out in tight spaces, like the garage. The M4, I lean in holding the wheel and pivot before dropping in. Get out the same way as the Vette. Alternatively, when you can open the door fully, can just plop in. Very little contact with the (black) seats. I'm 5'10" and 185, so about average in that respect. Those who are, uhhhh...size challenged, will always have a problem--especially in tight spaces. Moving the seat all the way back with a memory button is a good idea.

I think i will be ok, but i may have underestimated this process to be done multiple times a day. def going to try the two seat position, one for in/out, another for driving.

My SO hates it lol

Bringing this back alive. Anyone figure out a better way in and out? Now that everyone’s had the car for couple years.

I’ve personally found that with hope and prayer it makes it easier getting out.
Hope that helps.

Engine hoist with the G83 and a harness seems to work well. 😉

Lol, I don’t have enough room to comfortably exit the car with my sport seats, never mind the buckets. Perils of being tall.

The buckets are a real pain in a daily. I nearly got them but glad I tried them and changed my order. Especially difficult to get out of in an M3. Easier in M4 due to the long doors on the coupe.

Heck, I think getting out of the M3 with the standard seats is strenuous enough. Tall people problems.

That said, they are comfy once you're sitting, but the crotch piece is something to take note of if you adjust your leg positions on long drivers.

I'd get the buckets in a new M2C or CS when that arrives, but that wouldn't be my daily driver.

Bad example - that guys ass and legs don’t even fit in between the bolsters.

Getting out is a lot easier if you use the door sill to vault out of the seat.

The M4 we drove at the Performance Center had bucket seats. Both my husband and I (60's) acknowledged how happy we were that we went with the sport seats. Getting in and out of there was an experience.

I didn’t see my technique, so I’ll add.
Granted I’m pretty fit for an old guy and honestly the core strength from palates helps. LOL

And IMO the bolster is shaped like a handle to get in and out.

Out: left hand on door plate and right hand on right bolster. Push with right arm on bolster, or center console, and pivot twist over the left bolster, so my right foot hits the ground first and I step up and out.

In: step in with right foot and slowly squat down until my left hand can press on the door plate or grab left bolster. Grab right bolster and lower in.

Peeps we are going to need some video evidence. Right now in my mind none of you can drive your cars because you are stuck outside wondering how to get in.

Great thread! I know it's old and wonder if anyone is still following.

I'm waiting to take delivery of my new (to me) 2021 M4 MT with carbon buckets. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to get and haven't tried the buckets yet. But the car was otherwise a perfect spec so I just went for it.

Has anyone tried these bolster covers? Kinda pricey, but there's so much talk about his it's easy to scuff the bolsters on ingress/egress.
