Cleaning Silverstone on-the fly (f.e. on vacation):
Use un-perfumed, only slightly greased baby tissues (the cheapest ones with the attribute "ultra sensitive" contain least unwanted ingredients). After all, leather is skin - or at least it remembers having been, and reacts accordingly.

Id like to think I can be in camp 3. I keep hearing about Colourlock leather shield. Is this used after the ceramic initial application? If so what ceramic product did you use? |

yeah your sales associate should be able to provide you with a list of port installed options you can add to the car (includes spoiler, side skirts, front lip, dash cam, arm rest, etc). I opted for dash cam and alcantara arm rest. The options are installed at the VDC at the US port prior to being shipped to the dealer.

I have the SS interior with about 10k miles. Although 6k of this was done on a cross country road trip over a 5ish days so significantly less wear and tear than a commuted 10k miles. I’ve cleaned it maybe 3 times and used the colourlock stuff. Still looks new. Cleans relatively easy so far but it’s been winter. Let’s see once it warms up and I start rock climbing and mountain biking… I’m thinking it won’t like the orange moon dust.
I do like the color but did not spec it myself. Would have gone with orange or tartufo. But if I absolutely loved SS I’d go with that and deal with the consequences. Didn’t realize there was ceramic for leather.. any recommendations? |

I've had SS twice and didn't regret it either time.
With the proper maintenance routine, it isn't hard to keep up with. I didn't get it this time because I'm on a brown leather kick.

You either could fuss about and be super careful every time you use the car, or you could enjoy it worry-free. An afternoon's work can literally turn an interior brand new even from bad shape, so why stress over it.

Picking up Ivory White interior after swapping from Black. Just going to coat it like the above people said and clean it as needed. Nothing wrong with black but no reason with all the products out there to live life scared of SS/Ivory/Fiona/Orange

I use these two products - first one to protect, second to clean grubby marks if needed:
1. Gtechniq Leather Protector. L1 Leather Guard https://amzn.eu/d/7q8jOK9 2. Furniture Clinic Liquid Leather Degreaser https://amzn.eu/d/7HTYoFR |

It’s just my opinion. I’m one to like things with minimal maintenance. Some people might feel the same way or they’ll be comforted knowing that a bit of maintenance every couple of months couple of months is all that’s needed. Not me. Realistically, I shouldn’t have bought a black car!

I find this difficult to believe. Every BMW with silverstone interior that I've seen in dealer showrooms had dirty looking seats. We are talking about brand new cars that sit in the show room and aren't even driven. Just customers getting in and out.

As was said above, too many good products out there to worry about not getting the interior you want. Besides....black shows dirt too.. |

I had ordered black interior but always wanted SS too. So I changed my order at the last minute and don't regret it. I had my interior ceramic coated like others on here. My interior is 2 years old on my G80 and it still looks and feels new. I only perform maintenance about every other month and it's just a quick wipe down. My G80 is also my daily driver and I also take it on long trips.

I have SS and wouldn't order it again. It sounds good in theory, but i think its a pain. I do the majority of work on my car, and often change tires and/or pads for track and autocross events, and will usually just change clothes after working on the car before i get in to move it and take it for a test spin.

Real world example:
This is my wife's Cayenne with the Chalk / Graphite Blue interior. It has a coating on the seats. This seat has not been cleaned in easily 3 months (shame on me). Chalk is lighter than Silverstone. BTW, the phone really exaggerates how dirty this was. It was not that noticeable to the naked eye. Cleaned today with Colourlock Mild Cleaner and the included sponge, plus a microfiber. This cleaning took....2 maybe 3 minutes? This is how easy it is to keep up with even a neglected seat. |
