I sent an email to BMW Genius and got this response:

Your BMW convertible top is able to be automatically opened and closed by briefly pressing or pulling the convertible top switch. For a diagnosis to confirm this system is operating correctly, please contact your authorized BMW center. Should you need to access a list of our authorized BMW centers, please visit our website at: www.bmwusa.com, and select "Dealer Locator."

Can anyone do this? I'm going to post a new thread asking everyone to try it.

Also Jim don't know if you saw this in the manual but a heads up. It warns against using the key to open the top because it strains the battery a lot

My G83 was delivered to my dealer over the weekend! I ordered it on 4DEC and in went into production around 4FEB. It is a US military sale in Germany, so the trip to the dealer was far shorter. Now I will spend half of the order-to-build time waiting for the PPF and ceramic shops to get to it before I can pick it up.

I must admit, I was quite impressed with the build time, but the check gets made out to BMW AG for this sale, as the local dealer merely acts as pass through. Perhaps when BMW gets it $$$$ directly, they find the parts that it needs....

Absolutely loving our new G83 so far! We forget it's even a vert when the top is up. The carbon panels inside the top make it quite Ridgid, and less ragtop feeling. Glad the top also has real glass and not plastic.

i didn't want to give up the air scarf or the cooled seats.

Both those things don't make a world of difference but they do expand the range of acceptable temperatures to have the top down.

I use the air scarf pretty regularly. I will say that, in my experience, if you have any sort of collar on, the direct heat gets sort of blocked but the warmth is still mostly felt. Just not directly.
