Coding Options - Change Car color in iDrive

I haven't seen a lot of coding threads, unless I fail at searching.

Is it possible to change the color of the car displayed in the iDrive and Dash? Since individual colors show a generic grey, it would be nice to change it to a closer color to what you actually have. Like I could make mine show as Portimao Blue so it was at least blue.

If there's a list of all the E-Sys options for the G8x, I'd appreciate that too.

I got HU_MGU Expert Mode->3000->Vehicle_Color to work, but I can’t tell what works for my Trim_Level.

Could you screenshot your Trim_Level Settings for me? (Especially the one with the tick)

Nice! Good work!! I upgraded my laptop but now have one with the Apple M1 chip and I can't get E-Sys to work now. I need to get something that I can run E-Sys on before I can test this out.

Guess I have a reason to start looking for a cheap laptop off Amazon marketplace or something. Thanks

Maybe you can try something like VMware Fusion or Parallels in a virtual machine instead of buying another computer.

I had been using VMware Fusion, the problem is that Windows in not licensed to be on any of the new Apple chips, so neither VMWare or Parallels support it right now.

Hopefully that will change soon but hasn't looked good from what I have read.

Scroll down to the area that talks about Windows.

I can confirm this works! I've set mine to Sunset Orange, the closest to Fire Orange.

That is awesome!! I would love some help with this once I get my car back.
I am definitely not tech/ computer savvy. I have Mexico blue. What options are there that would be close?
Nice find.

So I was able to repair an old laptop and got E-Sys running on it but I don't have the psdzdata for the G series, or at least not for the G80.

Where did you get yours? I used this guide to install it and get the psdzdata file.

Are you saying the color shows up differently than what you coded?

I have an issue where the car color isn't correct in the camera system, but I think that's a different module. I haven't been able to figure out where that color is coded.

I think your software is the issue then. I coded mine to Sunset Orange and everything, the instrument cluster (to be clear, meaning the area between the speedometer and the tachometer) and the infotainment are all Sunset Orange, but my 360 camera view is still Special Order Silver.

I'm using BimmerCode for this.

I don't think you're coding it correctly, then. Even disconnecting my battery and coming back, the car color is the same as what I coded.
