It’s definitely a car that doesn’t take well to photographs, I’ve been driving it around for a week now and everyone that sees it comments how good it looks in person,

Maybe you mean 4 series? The new 4's actually look kind of nice to me now. Not the grille design I'd have come up with, but it is growing on me. The Lexus grille on the other hand never has and will always be hideous to me.

I’m out of the tub of despair over the new front. I’ve seen several M4’s in person now and yeah sure, it’s out there, but I got over my X7’s grill, I’m over this one now.
Just saw a Brooklyn M4 today at the dealer and it is quite a looker. I got a sense of a GTR in some respects looking at the rear quarter and front quarter. Could just be me. |

My brother saw the G82 first time today, his reaction: "the grill is not an issue"

Were you referring to the circled comment? I was too busy reading the text to the right;

Family opinions are important. I will admit that my dad doesnt like the new grill, he said "but that nose!". Mom said "idk about this one" - but that was specific to G22 not G8X

I was interested in the new M4 convertible for summer driving. I am an M car fanatic and currently drive an X3M and an M4 gts. I have had 6 BMW M cars in the past 10 years. The grille killed it for me. I saw it in person at the dealership on 2 M4s of different colors. Horrible on both. Will look elsewhere...
You blew it on this one BMW. Lost me as a customer for sure... I hope their new designer is reading this thread...and whoever hired him. Last edited by jpdchicago; 03-26-2021 at 01:15 PM.. |

When I first saw the grill I hated it. After seeing it more and more in pics and videos, I moved to mild distaste bordering on indifference. After seeing it at the dealership, next to my M2C that now looks boring by comparison, I decided I like it. It's suitably aggressive for an M-car. I appreciate I may be in the minority, but that works for me. I'm the only one who has to like it, and I suspect it would have been much harder to get a discount if everyone was raving about the design and snapping these up. As it was, I had to wait a week for their next allocation.
I am truly amazed how many pages this thread has grown to. The grill definitely elicits some strong views! |

His right hand man and successor is currently running the show at BMW. He's probably proud of him for once again ruffling enthusiast gatekeeper feathers.
Unlike Bangle, van Hooydonk is probably going to be able to withstand the pressure and criticism. |

I like the grill, the problem is the design of the headlights. There is something off with the headlights, can’t really put my finger on it but I’m sure it’s the headlights that need to be changed.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the headlights but I do see a lot of room for improvement (cleaning up, intensity, etc) on the LCI.
