Does that sound right to people? Seemed directionally correct to me but curious if other people have heard different. Thanks
I JUST went through the process to find allocation. I contacted EVERY single dealer (seriously, all of them) in the DMV about 3 weeks ago and none of them had allocation at the time. I still have my notes and Alexandria said there would be 3-4 people ahead of me on the waitlist. Again, this was 3 weeks ago so things probably have changed.

But it sounds like you're not even going to get a production number. So that timeframe the salesperson gave you is a complete guess. Ask them if you'll get the production number after you put your deposit down (I'm going to guess no based on what you said).

FYI - I ended up going through a dealership in NJ to get allocation. If Alexandria is not giving you a production number and you're not tied to the dealership, let me know. A couple dealerships in the DMV have contacted me over the past week saying they have the allocation.

As long as you get it for MSRP, you win.
i got one from catonsville at msrp. took about 7 months for allocation tho.

To close the loop on this, I ended up keeping my order with Alexandria. The quoted 6 month time ended up being MUCH shorter due to a combination of Alexandria getting a ton of allocations and people dropping off the waitlist. It's been a very good experience with them so far.

I did contact a few other dealers (e.g., Towson) but it was mostly shenanigans on their part like asking for ADM or requiring credit application even though I am a cash buyer.

I had a good experience with Alexandria BMW. Placed my deposit on Feb 14, 2022 for a 2022 M3 C Xdrive, it was transitioned to a 2023 C Xdrive when the model year changed in July 2022. There was a price increase for MY23 but you don't have choice in that. I received my 23 M3 C Xdrive on Nov 30, 2022 at MSRP.

I just got mine.

Fairfax told me all dealers have a year long waitlist for allocation.

Within 2 weeks of that convo I was number 1 on two different waitlists in the dmv and a few weeks after that got an allocation at a dmv dealer where I was number 2 on the list. Fairfax told me they have 25 people on their m3 waitlist and pretend that all other dealers have the same, or atleast the one sales guy I spoke to does.

Yea, the Fairfax guy was pretty obviously making stuff up. If they indeed have 25 people on their waitlist, sounds like they're not getting many allocations.

Glad you found a couple honest dealers though. Make sure you get a production number when your order is accepted.

We picked up our X5 xDrive50e today and the dealership rep we work with showed us hit allocations. Right now he has 2 allocations open for X5xDrive50e if someone wants one just PM me and I'll give you his contact info. The dealership is located in Maryland.

I ordered my 2024 M4 through Fairfax BMW a couple weeks ago and it currently has a production week of 38. They had an open allocation that day with no wait list.

I think some of this depends on previous business. I went went passport again and got my allocation within 3 days back in February after the CA stating it could be awhile. My guess is they bumped me up in line due to my msrp/profit margin and being a repeat customer when it was all said and done. It’s true waitlist exists, but the factors behind where exactly you are on that list is likely a gray area. They’re going to sell the allocation either way.

Looking for a BMW client advisor referral around the DMV. I much rather have a contact than cold calling or contacting a dealership and getting a newbie that can't work a discount. TIA!

Alp at Fairfax is a great one, I would recommend. He is transparent, knows the system, has very good connections within the dealership and he is a true-and-true racer.

If my DM works, I can provide his contact info.

Bumping this for the braintrust's thoughts. My G80 RWD order is currently with BMW of Alexandria. I was at the top of the waitlist as far back as August, but I asked to push back to a November slot so I could take delivery in or around January 2024 rather than 2023. But for both the November and December allocations, they've told me there were "no allocations for the DC area". That seems weird for such a huge dealer to get no allocations. Does that pass the smell test for you all?

I already know about Day Laborer if I decide to walk--right now, I'm just trying to understand what might be going on here. Thanks very much

I put in a deposit about a week or more ago at BmW Fairfax and when asked about waitlist was told I’m in the “teens”. I’ve avoided this dealer at least 2 other times in the last 10-15 yrs bc of horrendous customer service (if you can even call it that). I’m regretting leaving the deposit as I recall the form I signed stated (non-refundable) but if anybody has a POC at another DMV dealer who’s more honest I’m willing to switch my order!

Being in the teens is crazy at this point in time. Lots of people tend to drop off waitlists when their turn comes up but still...

Deposits shouldn't be non-refundable either.

i had a g80comp on order and was about 4 months in and zero movement, i ended up getting a call from a buddy in richmond that had a CS so i picked that up, but i did wait 3 more months to get it. if you want one sooner i'd hit up Day Laborer he can find you an allocation for a small broker fee. totally worth it IMO

Holy shit, was this for an M3 or M4? I think the M3's are more in demand, if I'm not mistaken? I ordered my M4 through Fairfax a few months ago and I got the allocation that day. It'll be delivered in a couple weeks.

This is for an M3, only been two weeks since the deposit/order but it sucks not having a production number. I’ve read on this forum the M3 is more in demand and even more so for the xDrive

Yeah, I have called a couple places letting them know I am serious and want an allocation, but who knows what will happen. Kind of stressed I wont get a build in before this shitty headlight update. OPINION, I don't like their future plans of changing the headlights.

Update, finally found one, build has a production number, Jan/Feb delivery. This only happened because I was on a waitlist and everyone before me backed out from what they said.
