I think the OP has been a pretty good sport about this whole thing. Obviously he/she/it/they/ or whatever correct pronoun needs to be used, has a need in mind and no one is really going to distract from said goal.

We wish you luck. Post up a picture when you find your unicorn 🦄 bug bra.

Do the PPF. I saw a bra on a car the other day and it looked so old…

PPF is so easy to scrub clean without worry.

I started adding PPF to my cars back in the 1990's. Now, it's become too expensive to make sense from any financial standpoint. My last 2012 Porsche & 2015 Mercedes cost around $1,400 for front end grill including headlamps, sideview mirrors, the roof ridge above the windshield, the entire hood, rocker panels front & rear & door handles. Now, the same costs over $6,000.

Also, PPF does not stop bugs from splattering the radiator or other intakes that are nearly impossible to clean. Again, using a bug bra or screen for long highway trips.

I also prefer how I am able to get my paint to look without PPF.

Blowing 100k on a new BMW doesn't make alot of financial sense either...PPF isn't a value play, it's a product/service you get to protect the paint and keep it looking good.

You may want to shop around, $6k for full front sounds ridiculous. I've been quoted $6k for XPEL by my local shop for the entire car. $1500 for partial (half hood) front and $2k for full front.

The price I quoted seems to be the going rate charged by reputable shops in my area of South Florida. But again, I want to use something to block the bug swarms one travels through when driving on Florida highways during the late spring, summer months, and early fall. I have enough wax products on my car that the bugs will easily wipe off with a wet cotton towel, but I can't reach intake areas and radiator, etc.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anything custom made for our cars.

As others have mentioned you don't want to block off the intake or the radiators. That's like covering your nose and mouth and expecting you to breath. Your car is going to overheat. Maybe put some sort of a mesh instead in those areas.

screens don't limit air intake.

OP keeps trolling. Come now.

6k for front only PPF - even though other people in Florida pay that for entire car.

80s leather bra is best thing ever for protection - even though everyone knows it rubs directly against ur paint.

They do, more than you think. Depending on the size of the mesh it's in the 40% to 60% decreased airflow range. But for your use case - mellow highway driving on a road trip from a to b I wouldn't expect it to be harmful.

Of course they limit this is why they don’t put mesh in front of airplane engine to protect it from birds or any other debris because it limits substantially.

Assuming a lot of bugs get mashed up in the front, it could impede airflow a bit to the heat exchangers, especially at idle, but I would also be concerned with the restricted airflow potentially to the intakes as that will rob horsepower.

Probably not a huge concern unless the bugs are really stacked up but at that point, I’d worry more about visibility from your windshield than anything.

As the car is moving forward, it will act as a ram to push air into other crevices as our cars are not airtight. Let us know how it goes. Hopefully before this thread becomes 100 pages long.

Physical bras are so 1990. Probably why you can’t find one easily for this chassis.

If you don’t want to spend the money on a clear bra, just put a ceramic coating or invest in some good bug wash soap.
Yeah and so are white tennis shoes/sneakers. So 1970s yet we still see those ghetto shoes on the under 30 crowd. Talk about absolute ghetto. 😂😂😂
Jokes aside, black bras are fine and won’t scratch the paint. That’s an old wives tale guy.

Some of you folks worry about petty stuff way too much but I guess it’s this generation of liberals. It’s always something.

uh, I'm pretty conservative, and I think I'm a bit more anal and anxious about my car than the OP ...so I don't think this one is a liberal/conservative issue.

But I know it feels good for many to inject politics into as many conversations as possible, just to rile things up...

I don't want to get everyone too excited but I have a lead. I think I've found our white whale:

Let's not get overly excited, I've reached out to the seller for confirmation. I need to see this happen.

I will report back with a confirmation. Hang tight. And $76.99???? Practically giving it away.
