This has been an entertaining thread to read.

As someone with a tiny bit of inside experience with OEM/dealership relationships and business management I can assure you these lists are of no material value to any of us. They should also NEVER be used by the consumer as any point of reference for actual due diligence on a dealer prior to engaging the business.

I’m going to use a very technical term for these kinds of lists, pure marketing bogusness.

Carry on with your entertaining comments!

Came here to say that I agree. They give good deals and are very customer focused.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I’ll add my support of Passport BMW as well.

If BMW of Alexandria had been on the Centers of Excellence list, then I’d be suspicious.

I got my M340i at BMW of Sudbury (Sudbury, MA) as did a Co-Worker 330i

I was not blown away by them at all, but decent so far.

I'm glad to NOT see BMW of Norwood on the list, they WERE great (two out of three times), but the third time they treated me like garbage. I poked my head in late last year and they were marking things up by $5k.

Two of the absolute worst, and unfortunately the others aren't much better.

Having experienced both when living in Lighthouse Point I 100% agree. My only other BMW dealership experience while living in Lighthouse Point was with Fort Lauderdale BMW. My wife and I drove our 6series vert on the lot after hours and some 80 year old security guard came screaming around the corner in his golf cart yelling at the two of us to get off the property. I never went and never will go back their again.

Hmm my local dealer is on this list and after my last experience getting my current car, Im not sure I agree with this. The first car I got from them was a decent experience but 6 months ago was pretty bad. With that being said I do recognize other dealers on this list so maybe I'll try others in the future.

Habberstad BMW well deserved award. By far the best car dealership I have ever dealt with. Paul Senft is awesome, ask for him. Larry and John are also top notch. Congrats to the Habberstad team.

Passport BMW in MD huh?

Hmm. Before I bought a BMW years ago, I bought a Lexus from Passport Toyota next door and that place absolutely sucked. One of the worst experiences. Refused to honor promises...an extra key, oil changes, etc. I wrote angry emails to the owners of Passport about the whole experience, who had passportbmw email addresses. Never got a response/call/nothing. Maybe the BMW dealer is better than Toyota...prob is but I told myself I'd never go to any passport dealer again anyway. 🤷🏽*♂️

BMW of Silver Spring and BMW of Catonsville have been great.
Passport BMW is not Passport Toyota. Agreed 100%. Had great experience with them recently for our X3 M40i. Had made calls to all other dealers in region and they were the only one who was responsive and not hassling me to visit their showroom before they would talk price.

General consensus is that this award has very little to do with the actual quality of care the customer receives. That is quite the correct assessment.

If you can't establish a good personal relationship with your local store, move on. If you feel valued and are dealt with honestly, then tell your neighbors and friends. The Golden Rule rules.

In the DMV, I've found BMW of Fairfax checks all the right boxes when it comes to great customer service. It's been my go-to dealership and always come out impressed with their service and treatment, ESPECIALLY their parts, service and body shop.

Seems to me from reading some posts here that if you see the dealer on this list then find one not on this list or be very careful. They might be good for BMW NA but not for the customer.

It reminds me of proxy shareholder voting recommendation sent to share holders. What ever the board is recommending vote against it.

HaHa Not single BMW Dealership in NorCal, Los Angeles, or San Diego.

Monrovia BMW is out past Pasadena and is very pretty after it was remodeled. Visited once. One Client Advisor has a classic BMW stable that will make you drool.

Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo is my BMW Parts goto. #Brittany. I live 3 blocks from a local BMW dealership and it is like Kriptonite... So I drive 90 miles roundtrip out of my way to visit for anything. #GOLFRR If it is good enough for the #KnightRider, it is good enough for me. #Kit

Cheers

BMW of Silver Spring and BMW of Catonsville have been great.
I know Passport is involved with the capital area CCA chapter, so that may factor into these ratings. (I live in Howard County, so I haven't had the opportunity to go to Passport in person.)

I've been servicing my cars at Catonsville for years and haven't had any issues there. But with my G80 order, I can't say I was too impressed with either Silver Spring or Catonsville. The former was very non-committal about pricing, and the latter was happy to accept an MSRP order, but subsequently told me they would require a $5k surcharge for my Dravit Grey option (which is only semi-Individual and does not normally induce long delays), on account that it would postpone delivery and therefore reduce their throughput of M cars and therefore threaten to reduce their future allocations. I thought that was BS and found other dealers to place my order with instead.
BMW Murrieta made the list - and is my local dealer. We are a smaller city that is just east of Los Angeles and North of San Diego - but the dealership is HUGE. I have purchased one car there, and have two serviced there. They have been excellent - it does not surprise me they made the list.

Very little of the COE award every year has to do with how they treat customers. Certainly CSI ratings are a part of it , but there are also several different criteria in each department that matter, overall look of the store, parts ordering procedures, warranty statistics, F&I penetration and a bunch of other things that literally have nothing to do with it how the customer is treated. You can certainly be a COE dealer and not have a great time upfront if you were a customer.

A better indicator is to go into a dealership and ask the general sales manager who has won the award for “profiles in achievement” for the past year. There are usually at least one or two salespersons in every dealership that win this award. They get a reduced payment price for a one year lease, it’s a real deal. They are the salesmen that are experienced, sell a lot of units, are product educated and generally treat their customers better.
