Each time I watch them, I think that they should switch lanes to eliminate the surface advantage/disadvantage.
M3 is small in size but M5 wagon will steal a good chunk of sales from the X5M.

Having both vehicles in the garage would practically eliminate any desire to seek drag race statistics.

X5M did better than I thought considering the weight/size difference. Especially when it came to braking.

The problem is the second row seating in a wagon vs SUV isn't equivalent. I have a A6 allroad now, which I love, but I'm going to have to move to something bigger. Hopefully the m5 wagon gets a bit more legroom in the second row, then it becomes a perfect SUV replacement.

Well, there is always a compromise. There are people that I know who do not need the second row but use the trunk a lot. They'd go for the wagon in a heartbeat. That's why a lot of the people in the US have been asking for the 3 and 5 wagons for quite some time now. I personally need the rear legroom and the trunk and I like to sit a little higher somedays, so I'd go for the X5M.

My greedy hope is no compromise. My seat position tends to be a bit far back. I'd love a wagon with a touch more second row space so I could avoid a SUV. I would happily give up some trunk space for a bit more second row. But even the x5m looks to be a little low there. The m5 wagon is such a dream car, but I think it will miss a couple key requirements for me, which is a bummer.

BMW front seats are very chunky overall. A couple years back, we bought a C Class over a 3 Series because the Merc had much more legroom in the back despite both cars having the same interior size. Maybe the thinner bucket seats of the M5 would solve the issue.

I quite like the humour sometimes. What gets me is why waste time on brake tests. Depends hugely on tyres and surface and very little on weight or brake systems.

I have a 1 year old X5 45e and I think everyday on switching to an M3 Touring.

The problem is the 2nd row, I have 2 kids (1 and 3 years) and both sit on Axkid One 2 (the picture shows only one), Im sure they will not fit.. maybe the M5 Touring

With rear-facing seats?

The Axkid allows rear-facing up to 7 years.
